  • Notes
    • Elijah and family moved from Union Monthly Metting in Nov. of 1834 to Center Monthly Meeting in Clinton Co., Ohio. They proceeded to move to Ceasar's Monthly Meeting on 5/18/1838. Elijah and Rebecca were Quakers who converted to Methodism after the Civil War when "swept up in the Evangelical Revival". Elijah help set up many Methodist churches throughout the midwest. Letters to his wife during this time period are still in existence. He is likely the Elijah Coate who was an operator on the Underground Railroad in Miami Co., Ohio. (C-2117)
