Solomon's Group (b. 1756-1767)

Here is the best YDNA evidence we currently have for the group that is related to Solomon b. aft 1755.   To get these figures, I used the TIPS button that can be found with your cousin MATCHES on your YDNA page.  The TIPS matches indicate whom you have the most YDNA with by how large the accuracy rate is within a certain number of generations.   I originally studied all of the generation points and then narrowed it to the 8 generation mark to make conclusions.   I also used another technique I just learned about called YDNA triangulation.   Both methods are giving the same current results.   There is one possibility that could throw some of these conclusions off.   We do no yet have a tester who descends through William's son Thomas.  Until then, this is the best we can do with YDNA.

Conclusions:
1.  James Coats, b. 1807 consistently appears to be the grandson of Solomon.
2.  One of two descendants whom is the descendant of James Coats, b. 1807 at 37 points indicates that James is the descendant of John.   Our third descendant of James b. 1807 needs his test updated to 37 points to determine the ancestors of James b. 1807 with authority.
2.  Sion (b. abt 1775 if he's the son of John) and William (b. 1785) appear to be brothers and sons of John.  This also aligns with census records for John but needs autosomal triangulation proof to verify it.
3.  Solomon b. 1756-1767 is not the father of William b. 1784/85 or Sion (b.1775-1784) because Solomon had no mutations in all but one of his descendants tested and William and Sion both did.
4.  Wylie is the likely son of Henry and Susannah Elliot as per autosomal DNA evidence provided by a private member.  This also matches with YDNA evidence.
5.  Hardin is the likely descendant of Henry and Susannah Elliot via son Amos from autosomal DNA evidence provided by a member.  This does not coincide with YDNA evidence and needs additional proof.   Another two YDNA testers who descend from Hardin should clear this discrepancy up.
6.  Most current members of  this YDNA group are descended from Solomon as exhibited in the chart below.

If anyone can find someone to test who is the decendennt of William (b. bef 1755) via his son Thomas, please ask them to join our project with at least 37 points of YDNA tested.

In the meantime, there are other ways these connections can be proven.   If you've had a Family Finder test done, you will need to find what is called a triangulation of 3 cousins or more whom all descend from your oldest known ancestor including yourself, who inherited the same segments at 7 cM's or higher on the same chromosome.   Autosomal is good for back till about the 1730's, so you could be in luck here.  The other way is to check these findings against all first hand records that you can find.   You can find these persons by using the google search function on my site at Ancestrees.   Please let me know if you find any discrepancies on your lines with the deductions below via historical or autosomal (Family Finder) evidence.   We are working for the truth here, so I will update this info as new evidence comes to light.

Thanks!   I sure hope this helps.    Linda Coate, admin.

Furthest Known Ancestor Historically Ancestors of Cousins Most Recent Common Ancestor Generations Predicted Closeness                                             Conclusions
James b 1807 Solomon Solomon aft 1755 8 97% Indicates James b. 1807 is the descendant of Solomon as his grandfather by age.
James b 1807 Benjamin Franklin>Needham>Solomon>Solomon> Solomon aft 1755 8 97% These first 3 kits indicate James b 1807 is the descendant of Solomon as his grandfather.

James b 1807 Pinkney Parrott>Alvin>William b 1785>John b bef 1755 Solomon via gr.son James b 1807 and John's common ancestor 8 89% In my other YDNA projects that I've sorted, this drop  from 97% to the 88% degree has been the location for the parent of one of the 2 persons being compared.   James' ancestor, Solomon, would be of an approprite age to be the son of John.
James b 1807 James b 1807>John>Solomon James b 1807 8 88% This kit confirms these 2 persons are descended from James b 1807
James b 1807 Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 88%
James b 1807 Wylie>Henry ancestor of Henry and Solomon 8 89%

Thomas b 1800>Sion>John b bef 1755 John b bef  1755 John Coats 8 97% Thomas is most likely the descendant of John
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Solomon b aft 1755 Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 88% John has the next closest relationship with Solomon.   This would fit a father/son pattern because the DNA matches up slightly further back in time.
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Thomas Benton 1738>Wilson>Solomon Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 88%  John has the next closest relationship with Solomon.   This would fit a father/son pattern because the DNA matches up slightly further back in time.
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John James b 1807>John>Solomon Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 88%  John has the next closest relationship with Solomon.   This would fit a father/son pattern because the DNA matches up slightly further back in time.
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Benjamin Franklin>Needham>Solomon Jr.>Solomon Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 88%  John has the next closest relationship with Solomon.   This would fit a father/son pattern because the DNA matches up slightly further back in time.
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Wylie>Henry Henry and John's common ancestor 8 70% Wylie does not appear to descend directly from John
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John James b 1807>John>Solomon Solomon and John's common ancestor 8 69% This kit had an additional mutation from the other kit descended from James b. 1807 which is why the statistic is lower.
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Pinkney Parrott Distantly related 8 70% He is distantly related with an 86% chance within 11 generations
Thomas b 1800>Sion>John Hardin Very distant common ancestor by YDNA as his descendant has 3 points that are mutated from the others.  8 27% He is distantly related to this group with an 87% of being related within 18 generations.  Autosomal DNA evidence has them having a common ancestor within 7-8 generations. Hardin is the theorized descendant of Henry and Susannah Elliot via their son Amos. This is suggested via autosomal research by one of our members.
William b 1784/1785 Thomas b 1800>Sion
John if he's the father of William b 1784/5 8 97% Sion and William are brothers with John being their likely father

William b 1784/1785 Henry b bef 1755 John if he's the father of William b 1784/5 and Henry's common ancestor 8 70%
William b 1784/1785 James b 1807>John>Solomon John if he's the father of William b 1784/5 8 69% The 2 kits from James give varying results as this one has an extra mutation not in common with the group to date.
Wylie bef 1775 Benjamin Franklin>Needham>Solomon>Solomon Henry and Solomon's father 8 89% No 97% match for Wylie to any other tester.  It likely eliminates John or Solomon as his father.
Wylie bef 1775 Thomas Benton>Wilson>Solomon Henry and Solomon's father 8 89%
Wylie bef 1775 Solomon Henry and Solomon's father 8 89%

Wylie bef 1775 James b 1807>John>Solomon Henry and Solomon's ancestor 8 70%
Wylie bef 1775 Thomas b 1800>Sion>John John if he's the father of William b 1784/5 and Henry's common ancestor 8 70% Because these 4 kits have a lower percentage, it also suggests John and Henry are older and further back in time by age.   They are among the older generation for this group.
