This is from the handwritten notes of my father (G. Lee Lockhart 1935-2007) found in his family history file upon his death:

"General John Peter Von Derenberg was one of the leaders of liberalism and the movement for constitutional government.  As a direct result of the defeat of this movement, he and his family migrated to the US in 1803.  His first wife's name is not on record but it is believed that she died on board ship bound for the US after giving birth to a son, John Peter von Derenberg II, from whence we came.  Other children of this marriage by his first wife are George, Mary, Catherine.

General John Peter Von Derenberg was then married to his second wife, Margaret Stanford on Jun 18, 1818.  Children ofthem were:

(1) Margaret, who married Israel Nesselrode on April 20, 1841.  She died Dec. 1904

(2) Ruth, who married Andrew Pickens, was born Aug. 3, 1822.

John Peter Derenberger II (note the dropping of Von and adding "er" to the last name) married Christina Staats, who was born Nov. 26, 1806 and died July 1, 1881.  Their children were

(1) Annetta, born March 8, 1840, died Jan. 27, 1921, married Albert Lockhart on May 13, 1860.  Albert was born December 9, 1840 and died March 6, 1905.

(2) California, born 18"

Here the record breaks off, as though interrupted.
