  He is listed as an aged man when he was buried in Greystoke records. He is highly likely to be related to the Martins in Burke's Peerage book of Thackwaite, Greystoke, England. I have theorized that he is a grandson of Hugh Martin and Agnes Ursula by age and place. He is not known to be the grandson through their son Hugh.
