He was recommended for the Council on Jan. 30, 1700. (F-161) I've estimated his age from his marriage record. He is listed as a friend of Richard Haynes and was called Major Christopher Estwicke in Haynes' will dated 1696 in St. John's Parish, Barbados. He died young and wrote his will on Aug. 13, 1705 in St. John's Parish, Barbados. His will lists 2 daughters and one son underage and names his sister, Elizabeth, wife of Samuel Forte, Sr. His own title at that point was listed as Esquire of Barbados. "Estwick, Christo: Esq of Bdos, being very sick and weak. St. Johns Parish, 13 Aug 1705, RB4/18, p. 26 My daus Eliza. She is listed as Mrs. Frances Bond when she married Christopher Estwick, but it clearly indicates that her father was Francis Bond and mother was Elizabeth Bond in her will.

In 1671, Richard witnessed a will for William Allen of St. John's Parish. William's wife was Joan Allen. Richard is also listed as having custody of land purchased from Gilbert Meason in St. John's Parish by William Allen??This Richard was in the 1679 Barbados Census as an owner of 40 acres and 20 slaves in St. George Parish. (F-161) He is listed of London, and a merchant in Barbados from Nigel Forte's research in Barbados. (F-604) He also could be referred to in any of the following references that were in the Barbados census of 1679/80. A Mr. Richard Estwick brought 10 men to serve under the Honorable Coll. Thomas Colleton on March 9, 1679/80. A Patrick Hicky was a soldier with armes who came in place of Mr. Estwick. A Mr. Richard Estwicke with 3 horses, a Mr. Henry Eastwicke with 1 horse, and a Mr. Richard Eastwicke, jr. with one horse served under Capt. John Leslie. Mr. Richard Estwicke, Senior owned 6 bought servants, 118 Negroes, and 330 acres in St. John's Parish. Mr. Richard Estwicke, Jr. owned 10 acres and Mr. Henry Estwicke owned 10 acres in the same parish. These are the only Estwicks listed in the Barbados census of 1679. His will is available in the Canterbury Wills on Ancestry. It is very difficult reading.

He first mentions 3 Estwicks (Marie, Richard and Brooke) as his younger children who appear not yet to be of age. He gives them to the care of his brother Francis and it looks like monetary support to do that. He bequeaths items and care to his wife (Eleanor), his son Francis, his son Isaac, his son Isaace, Christopher, Adrian, daughter Ellinor... and I'm assuming the rest. He names his son-in-law, Robert Wells and his grandchild (via Robert without listing the child's sex or name). This means that Christopher and Eleanor had another unknown daughter who probably died previous to 1657. He names his wife Eleanor as his administrator.

Christopher was "late of London" in a 1648 record. His father Christopher's will in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, suggests that he could have been born anywhere in the Northhamptonshire area as that is the region where the persons he names in his will are from. His father Christopher, lived in Stoke, Coventry, Warwickshire, England when he wrote his will and owned lands in Bedford and Kent which he also bequeathed. These lands covered quite a distance in the southern half of England.

The entry in Caribbeana is as follows:
Christopher Estwicke of St.John's Parish Barbados. Will dated 17th January 1660/1. My wife Anne Estwicke. My children [''three visible''] Ellinor, Mary and Christopher, and a 4th not yet born. My brother Francis. To my uncle Richard E. my gold ring, formerly my father's, with our coat of arms on it. Proved 28 January 1660/1. Entered16 April 1662.

In the tree appearing in Caribbeana it is stated that he "Purchased 50 acres in Barbados in 1641/2. It is assumed that this was Lightfoots in St.John's Parish, Barbados. We can also assume that Estwick died between 17 and 28 January 1660.

Christopher married Eleanor WALDEN between 1627 and 1670. Eleanor (daughter of Isaac WALDEN, daughter of Isaac WALDEN) was born in 1610-1633 in Coventry, Warwickshire, , England; died between 1655 and 1721 in Stoke, Warwickshire, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
