John Cornwell of London, England conveyed legacies to John and Margaret Turner in his will dated Mar 27, 1694. John Turner died not long after in his previous residence of All Hollow's Parish, Ann Arundel, Maryland. Margaret as a widow on Oct 1, 1705 conveyed this deed to her daughter Mary whether she be in Maryland or overseas and her grandchildren by son John.

Though we only have 2nd hand sources so far stating that Mary Turner is the wife of John Ponder and daughter of this John Turner, my mother does have matches with other persons that descend from this John. One of the matches is 5.1 cM's which is good for a match this far back in time. The only surnames my mother has in common with these cousins would be the Turners after the 1500's to account for the closest DNA matches. John married Margaret about 1670 in , , Maryland. Margaret was born in 1649 in Milldenhall, Suffolk, England; died in 1709 in , Prince George's, MD. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Her maiden name might be Cornwell as a John Cornwell gave her and her husband land in his 1674 will.

He came to Maryland in 1652 with his wife, and 3 sons, one of which was John named in his will. He is the progenitor of all the Turners in Maryland according to "The Colonial History of the United States." He demanded 300 acres of land for transporting this size family to Maryland. He acquired much more land in the 10 years or so they lived in Maryland. His wife was unnamed so is unknown in Maryland records. His will was probated on Dec. 22, 1663.
