Here is the first page of a book about the descendants of Esteban Diaz and his wife. It was translated with the assistance of their descendant, Cecile Lacdan Diaz Hetzer in 2022.

"At the beginning of the 19th century, according to the letter of Leonardo Santa Romano when he was still alive, the first Diaz that arrived and stayed at the new city of Kabanatuan are the parents of Benito, Augustina and Juan. Their parents, they can’t remember their names, they escaped the city of Rizal formerly called Morong to escape the persecution of the Spanish friars.

The oldest of the 3 siblings, Benito, he was the only one that had a job and was also able to go to school. Because of his honesty, perseverance, and care for fellow citizens, he was loved and admired by fellow citizens from Kabanatuan. Because he was starting to be popular in that era, he had enough reason to draw attention from the Spanish Friars. In order to hide the charge of the family clan the name Diaz was changed by Benito to Santa Romano before joining the field of the society of public affairs and social movement. Nevertheless, the two siblings, Agustina and Juan remained Diaz.

Its hard to pin down why Benito chose the last name Santa Romana. This might be because this surname might be his ancestors in Rizal. It might have been composed in order to sound good to church goers. With the surname Santa Romana (Roman), Benito became Paulina Cajucom’s love, a woman that was from in a respected family. (They married) Having seven children: five boys and two girls, who are Maria, Gregario, Guillarmo, Nicolas, Fernando, Trinidad (female) and Pedro. Benito was appointed and served as a Captain in the village and he became the Captain Benito of Kabanatuan.
