1. | Adam SHORT was born about May 1666; was christened on 30 May 1666 in Ford, Sussex, ENG (son of Henry SHORT and Miriam INGRAM); died in 1748. Notes: Adam was one of the last surviving immigrants who came on the "Welcome" in 1682. In 1693 he sued Tomas Wynne, who died during the process. He had a survey of his land near Christiana Creek made on Oct. 31, 1719. He was called to testify on behalf of Lord Baltimore when the Maryland boundaries were being decided in court. At an estimated date of 1731, Adam stated that his age was 78 at the time and recalled questions pertaining to 1682, 1684 and 1685. He supposedly lived for 49 years in New Castle Co., (Del or MD) If his birthday of 1666 is correct, then the amount of time he had lived in Delaware or his birth date is incorrect in his account to Lord Baltimore as these figures give us his estimated birth date at 1653. (C-1210, 1428) Adam married Martha UNKNOWN about 1712. Martha died in 1751 in , New Castle, DE, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
2. | Henry SHORT was born about 1647 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was christened on 9 May 1647 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG (son of Henry (Henrie) SHORT, Sr. and Elizabeth BRIDHAM); died about 1669 in Ford, Sussex, ENG. Notes: This Short is listed as Adam Short in a history of Delaware (Co., PA). However, Lauren Varga has hired a genealogist to search primary documents in England. She has found the three children of Miriam Ingram to be with husband Henry Short (not Adam Short) as herein listed via written baptismal records in Ford, Sussex, ENG. (C-1576, 1583, 1584, 1585) Henry married Miriam INGRAM about 1662. Miriam (daughter of Abell INGRAM and Miriam CHATFIELD) was born in 1645 in Catton, Sussex, England; was christened on 9 May 1641; died about 1682 in at sea. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
3. | Miriam INGRAM was born in 1645 in Catton, Sussex, England; was christened on 9 May 1641 (daughter of Abell INGRAM and Miriam CHATFIELD); died about 1682 in at sea. Notes: Miriam is called Marian in her daughter Mary's baptismal certificate. She died enroute to the Americas on the "Welcome", a few days before her brother, Ingram. This was William Penn's first expedition to Pennsylvania. Small Pox killed thirty out of 100 passengers on board. Her three children on board went under the care of her brother, G. Ingram. (C-1419, 1420, 1427, 1428, 1435, 1583) Miriam is also listed in John Ingram's will dated 1658. Though the relationship was not stated, from the pattern in the will, it is likely that she was his niece. When relationships were stated in John's will, they were daughters of his brothers. (C-1590)

4. | Henry (Henrie) SHORT, Sr. was born about Sep 1614 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was christened on 2 Oct 1614 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG (son of John SHORT and Joan BEEDING); died after 16 Dec 1675 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. Notes: Henry's second marriage is conjecture from the will believed to be this Henry's. There is a possibility that the will below belongs to his nephew, Harry, son of brother John, instead. I have checked all the marriage, will and burial records/indexes sent to me by Lauren Vargo, and have found no second mention of a Harry or second Henry Short. Therefore, our clearest belief is that the following will belongs to this Henry. If so, he only bequeathed items to the likely children of his second marriage. The sons of his first marriage would have been old enough to be off on their own and probably provided for already. Henry Sr.'s will is as follows: In the name of God Amen, the Sixteenth day of December Anno (Dui) 1675 I Henry Short sy ( ) of Walborton in the County of Sussex Vistua(l ) being Sick in body butt of perfect memory praised be to God do ordain & make this my last will & testament in manner & form following first I bequath my Soul to almighty God my Creator believing and hopeing to be (saved) by the (merrilly) & (mercy) of my Redeemer Christ Jesus And as for my (comporat?) (C-1589) Henry married Elizabeth BRIDHAM on 31 Aug 1638 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. Elizabeth (daughter of Adam BREDHAM) was born about May 1620 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was christened on 21 May 1620 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
5. | Elizabeth BRIDHAM was born about May 1620 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was christened on 21 May 1620 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG (daughter of Adam BREDHAM); and died. Notes: Her name was spelled Bredham in her baptismal record. (C-1592)

6. | Abell INGRAM was born about 1614 in N. Mundham, Pagham, Sussex, ENG (son of Unknown INGRAM); died after 1658. Notes: Ingrams can only be found in the town of North Mundham. They are entirely missing from records in all surrounding areas according to Lauren Varga from New Jersey. She is currently having a professional research the Short, Chatfield, Ingram lines of England. (C-1576) Abell married Miriam CHATFIELD on 14 May 1633 in N. Mundham, Pagham, Sussex, ENG. Miriam (daughter of Henry CHATFIELD and Jane UNKNOWN) was born about 1615 in N. Mundham, Pagham, Sussex, ENG; died in Jan 1639. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
7. | Miriam CHATFIELD was born about 1615 in N. Mundham, Pagham, Sussex, ENG (daughter of Henry CHATFIELD and Jane UNKNOWN); died in Jan 1639. Notes: Miriam's line apparently is known back multiple generations in England. (C-1418)

8. | John SHORT died about 27 May 1638 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was buried on 28 May 1638 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. Notes: This Short line is likely to go back to a William Short who left a will in 1538 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. The will is currently be translated by a professional researcher (7/98) as it's in old English. (C-1576) It is possible that this John was married once before he married Joan. This is because of an unexplained baptism of a Thomas Short, son of John Short on Oct. 26, 1606. (C-1592) This could also indicate that his first and seconds sons, John and Thomas had a different mother than Joan Beeding. John married Joan BEEDING on 24 Jan 1613 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. Joan died about 5 Jan 1646 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was buried on 6 Jan 1646 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
9. | Joan BEEDING died about 5 Jan 1646 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG; was buried on 6 Jan 1646 in Walberton, Sussex, ENG. Notes: There is a John Beeding who had a son John baptized on Oct 4, 1607 and a daughter, Joan on Dec 9, 1608 in Walberton, ENG. He could easily be Joan's older brother or cousin. (C-1592) From this pattern, I also suspect Joan's mother's name to be Joan.

10. | Adam BREDHAM was born before 1600; and died. Notes: It is highly likely that a Richard Bredham is an older brother of Adam also living in Walberton, England. Richard had his first child, Elizabeth in May of 1618. Adam had his first child Elizabeth in May of 1620. From this, we can theorize that their mother's name was Elizabeth and their father's name was either Richard or Adam. (C-1592)

Mundham, Pagham, Sussex, ENG. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
