Notes:

This Thomas is probably the Thomas Brinton who was christened along with his twin sister, Margery Brinton, in 1676/7 at Sedgley, England. Their parents were not listed in these early records, and no first hand proof exists of who they were. The "Brinton Genealogy" states they were Thomas and Ellen Brinton, two people who do exist in the area records. The "Brinton Genealogy" also gives a May 31, 1562 birth date for our Thomas, but this really is too early for his actual marriage date and was reported off by a day from a Thomas Brinton in the records born on May 30, 1562. Thomas is listed as a laborer at the baptism's of his children. (C-1364)

Thomas married Ellen MASON on 21 Sep 1605 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG. Ellen (daughter of Thomas MASON and Elizabeth GRAZEBROOK) was born about 1581; was christened on 26 Nov 1581 in Shenstone, Staffordshire?, ENG; died about 5 Dec 1642 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG; was buried on 6 Dec 1642 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG. There is incongruous information on this Thomas. There might have been a different set of parents for Thomas and Margery as their children's christening dates differ by about 15 years and Thomas's death date is given as two death dates depending on the second hand source it's found in, as 1587 or 1612 in Billie Lewis's book. If in 1612, he was still buried at Sedgely.

Thomas married Ellen UNKNOWN. Ellen died about 9 Oct 1612 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG; was buried on 10 Oct 1612 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

There is an Ellen Brinton, widow, who was buried on Oct 10, 1612 in Sedgley Parish records, that could be this Ellen, though that is not proven. (C-1364)

Thomas married Elizabeth GRAZEBROOK on 14 Jan 1580 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG. Elizabeth was buried on 10 Jan 1628 in Sedgeley, Staffordshire, ENG. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Elizabeth is listed as the daughter of Robert Grazebrook in several secondhand sources. Robert was fairly wealthy and was close to being accepted as a landed gentry. He names his four sons and three unmarried daughters, the first named daughter being Elizabeth, in his will dated Dec. 2, 1569. It was proved at Lichfield on July 31, 1570.

However, it is theorized by Col. Hansen, that our Elizabeth is not the Elizabeth who is the daughter of Robert. She would have been from a different social class than her husband, Thomas Mason. They lived 4 parishes apart and were not likely to have occasion to meet. Lastly, she would have been the eldest daughter, but have been born easily 20 years after the second son of Robert above. There are two many incongruities to believe fully that her father was Robert. (C-1364)

Another possibility is that she is the daughter of either John and or George Greasebrocke who were buried in Mar. of 1597 at St. Edmund's Parish Register in Worcester, England.

Billie Lewis in her book on Thomas Underwood gives his birth and death dates as circa 1515 and 1565 respectively.
