1. | Susannah COPPOCK was born on 2 Feb 1811 (daughter of William C. COPPOCK and Eunice COTHRAN); died on 14 Jul 1840 in Union M.M., Miami, OH, USA. Notes: It is somewhat likely that Susannah married a Coates. I say this because there is an unaccounted for Susan Coates who was the head of household living next to Joseph C. Coppock (her brother) and Hannah Cothran (her Aunt??) in the 1840 Newton Twp., Miami Co., OH census. If this is her, she had 2 sons from age 15-20 and 2 daughters age 10 to 15. She was listed at age 50-60, but this could easily be misinformation from whomever gave info to the census taker. She was actually about age 47 at the time. |
2. | William C. COPPOCK was born on 14 Apr 1788 in Bush River M.M., Newberry, SC, USA (son of Joseph COPPOCK and Jane WILSON); died on 28 Nov 1812 in , Miami, OH, USA; was buried in Union Joint Cemetery, Ludlow Falls, Newton Twp., Miami, OH. Notes: William emigrated to Ludlow Falls, (Newton Twp.) Miami Co., Ohio in 1807 along with some of his brothers and Mother in the early days of settlement in this region. He cleared the trees to build a log cabin and married within a couple years. He was a teamer by profession and his wagons ran from Cincinnati to the outlying settlements. William married Eunice COTHRAN on 16 Jul 1809 in , Miami, OH, USA. Eunice (daughter of Alexander COTHRAN and Hester UNKNOWN) was born on 13 Mar 1793 in , Newberry, SC, USA; died on 15 Jun 1866 in , Miami, OH, USA; was buried in Union Joint Cemetery, Ludlow Falls, Newton Twp., Miami, OH. 3. | Eunice COTHRAN was born on 13 Mar 1793 in , Newberry, SC, USA (daughter of Alexander COTHRAN and Hester UNKNOWN); died on 15 Jun 1866 in , Miami, OH, USA; was buried in Union Joint Cemetery, Ludlow Falls, Newton Twp., Miami, OH. Notes: Henry courted Eunice in her log cabin. Her name is spelled Unis Caughren in the marriage index at Miami Co., Courthouse. After they married and moved to his home in Ludlow Creek, she helped raise her children, Joseph and Susannah Coppock, John Coate (Henry's youngest) and Mary Davis (Henry's granddaughter who had lost her mother, also). Mary Davis was the grandmother of President Hoover. (C-1017)

4. | Joseph COPPOCK was born on 24 Feb 1742 in Little Britain M.M., Lancaster, PA, USA (son of John COPPOCK and Margaret COULSON); died on 1 Jan 1801. Notes: Joseph Coppock, son of John Coppock of Little Brittain Twp., Lancaster Co. PA married Jane Wilson, daughter of John Wilson of the Twp. of East Marlborough, Chester Co., PA according to their Quaker marriage record. The marriage record clearly stated that it took place on the 4th day, 5th month, 1769. Joseph left the East Nottingham MM, Chester Co., PA (also in Maryland) area on certificate dated Dec. 26, 1772 and was received in the Bush River MM, Newberry Co. area on April 30, 1774. Joseph married Jane WILSON in 4th da 5th mo 1769 in E. Nottingham M.M., , PA. Jane (daughter of John WILSON and Ruth COOKE) was born on 29 Sep 1751 in East Nottingham, Chester, Pennsylvania, United States; died on 10 Sep 1823 in Union M.M., Miami, OH, USA. 5. | Jane WILSON was born on 29 Sep 1751 in East Nottingham, Chester, Pennsylvania, United States (daughter of John WILSON and Ruth COOKE); died on 10 Sep 1823 in Union M.M., Miami, OH, USA. Notes: Jane's father is listed as John of East Nottingham in her marriage record. Her father's wife, Jane signs her name directly after Johns in the witness lists. (C-299, 1302) She is highly likely to be the Jane Coppock listed in the 1800 Newberry Census record. There was a female over 45 and between the ages of 16 and 26, with 2 males between 10-16 and one under ten. Her four youngest children fit the ages of this household. If it is her, her husband, Joseph died between the time he wrote his will in 1799 and summer of 1800 when the census was taken. She moved to Ohio in 1807 with sons William and Jesse. 8. | John COPPOCK was born in Jan 1709 in , Chester, PA (son of Aaron COPPOCK and Miriam SHORT); died on 18 May 1789 in Little Britain, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. Notes: John, the youngest son of Aaron Coppock, was willed his father's plantation of abt. 100 acres when he wrote his will on the 10th mo, 3rd day of 1726. This he received prior to his marriage to Margaret Coulson. John is listed as the son of Aaron Coppock of East Nottingham, Chester Province, PA, deceased when he marries Margaret Coulson on the 16th day, first month of 1731. Witnesses in the relatives column in order of signature are: Miriam Coppock (his mother) Tho. Coulson (her brother), Martha Coulson (her sister-in-law), Jn. White (his step-brother), Mary White (his step-brother's wife), Joel Bailey (his Uncle, brother-in-law to his mother, Miriam Short), Lydia Gregg (his sister), Miriam Jones (his sister), Eliz. Delaney (possibly his step-sister, formerly Eliz. White), Marg. Richard, Sarah Wily, Sarah Powell, David Gregg (his likely brother-in-law), John Robinson (husband to his step-sister, Martha Coppock), and William Wily. I've noted the ones whose relationship I understand. The mystery relatives could be important clues as to the rest of the makeup of this family. (C-2474) John married Margaret COULSON on 16 Jan 1731 in Nottingham M.M., Cecil, MD. Margaret (daughter of Joseph COULSTON and Mary Margaret EVANS) was born before 1710 in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, USA; died on 3 Mar 1788 in Little Britain M.M., Lancaster, PA, USA. (C-720) John married Ruth COOKE. Ruth died after 4 May 1769 in East Marlboro, Pennsylvania, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
11. | Ruth COOKE died after 4 May 1769 in East Marlboro, Pennsylvania, USA. Notes: She follows her husband's name as a witness to the marriage of their daughter, Jane in 1769 to Joseph Coppock in Little Britain MM, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. (C-1302)
