1. Richard YARWOOD was born before 2 Oct 1608; was christened on 2 Oct 1608; died after 6 May 1663 in Morley M.M., Wilmslow, Cheshire, ENG; was buried about 1 Jun 1663.

Notes:

Richard was offered a knighthood about 1616 which he refused. He "held land of the crown (or rather of the Earl of Chester) on his death". His heir was his grandson, Richard, who had just turned 12 years of age the previous October. The elder Richard had taken guardianship of his granson, Richard when his son Richard die. In 1616, an agreement was written that the younger Richard would marry a Baskerville daughter at age 21 in return for money and property. This, however, never occurred for reasons unknown. It would have meant a social step up for the elder Richard and does indicate that he was moving up in the world. (C-2272) n

Notes:

He, his wife and son Richard lived in a leased cottage in Mainwaring in 1577. He was listed as a householder at his death and a shoemaker in at least one other record according to Bob Yarwood. (C-2272) Bob Yarwood theorizes that John's father was named Humphrey, also a shoemaker of Over Knutsford. He payed a lay subsidy tax in 1742 and pleaded in a Duchy Court of Lancaster in 1545. He is obviously at least a generation older than John, lives in a nearby area and is the same profession. (C-2272)
