Robert was titled "Seigner de beumont, Pont Audemer, Brionne and Vatteville in Normandy, Count de Meulan in the French Vexin and Earl of Leicester." He accompanied William the Conqueror and played a very important role at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. William rewarded him with many manors lordships in Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Northampton and Wilts. He built a castle at Leicester where he enjoyed many luxurious years. When Henry I became he, he was said to be his favorite minister and confidant. Henry bestowed upon him the title of Earl of Leicester. Weeber's genealogy says that Robert and Amice had a daughter named Margurirte, but I have been unable to substantiate this. Brian Tompsett's respected Royal Lineage site does not include Marguerite. Isabel's first marriage was to Robert de Beaumont. Her full name seems to have been Elizabeth Isabella. She was the countess of Leicester. Her birth place has been listed as Vermadois, France and Valois, Bretagne, France. (C-1366, 1374)

Roger de Bellomonte, as he is called in Hamilton's book, commanded an army against Malcolm III, King of Scotland, when he accompanied William the Conqueror in 1066. He finished his father's work on the Abbey of PReaux in Normandy. (C-1878)

Hugh Magnus, Duke of France, was the leader of the First Crusade. Due to his failure to fullfill his vow to seize Jerusalem, he insited the Pope's displeasure. In his attempt to redeem himself, he led a minor crusade in which he died in 1102. He held many titles including: Hugh De Crepi the Great, Duke of France and Burgundy, Marquis of Orleans, Count of Amiens, Chaumont, Paris, Valois and Vermandois. (C-1211, 1366, 1440)
