3851 There is a Johannes Norman living in Philadelphia Co., Pennyslvania in a 1738 census that might be this Johannes. There is also a record that needs located that could apply to this Johannes Norman in the following record that could be ave in the LDS library. "Norfolk: Norwich - Minutes of Court of Mayoralty, 1632-1635 Marriages Memorandums of All the Courts that have Been Kept at Wichingham, Since 12 Apr 1659 Nomina Gardianorum and Magistrorum Artium County: Norfolk Country: England Glovers. Johannes Norman Headman Christoferus Frary Hugo Ogden Wardens Robertus Wantlopp Franciscus Patten Searchers Jurati..." NORMAN, Johannes (John) (I13796)

3852 There is a John Beeding who had a son John baptized on Oct 4, 1607 and a daughter, Joan on Dec 9, 1608 in Walberton, ENG. He could easily be Joan's older brother or cousin. (C-1592) From this pattern, I also suspect Joan's mother's name Joan. BEEDING, Joan (I14556)

3853 There is a John Coates listed in each tax roll for Philadelphia Co., PA along with Warwick in 1769 and 1774. John is listed as not taxed in both cases. In July 1777 he could have been the John who was on the Philadelphia militia rollsttalion, Capt. Mash's Co., indicating he served his tour. COATES, John (I7930)

3854 There is a John Evans who left widow, Mary Evans, and was buried in Tyn Rhos, Perry Twp., Gallia Co., Ohio. He was in the Civil War, enlisting in Mar. 25, 1864 and was discharged on Mar. 25, 1865. (CL-168) He is probably the John who achiee rank of Private in Co. C, 96th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. His widow, Mary, is listed in the 1890 military service census. He or she were from Thurman, Raccoon Twp, Gallia Co., Ohio. His was wounded twice. His leg was shot off according to this census before being discharged.

Another John Evans was a Private in Co. C, 173th regiment of the Ohio Vol. Infantry. He enlisted Aug. 10, 1864 and was discharged on June 26, 1865. His address was listed as Holcomb, Perry Twp., Gallia Co., Ohio. (CL-363) This John might instead be the John D. Evans who was in the Ohio Grave Registration Records for service in the Civil War, Army, Co. K, 3rd Virginia Calvary. His birth date was listed as Jan. 19, 1844. His death date was Jan. 19, 1864 in Charleston, WV. He was buried Jan. 21, 1864 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Jackson Co., Ohio. (CL-167) In the marriage records for Gallia Co., he might be the John who married Jane T. Daur on June 28, 1866 or Malinda Scruggs on Feb. 14, 1865 (CL-169)
EVANS, John S. (I8080)

3855 There is a John Joy who purchased 100 acres of land from John Rutledge on May 27, 1732 in Baltimore Co, MD that might be this John. (C-2304) JAY, John (I760)

3856 There is a John Leeds on the tax lists for Egg Harbor, NJ in 1773. His will is transribed here at presented at www.ancestry.com. " Will Excerpt of John Leeds-1785Added by joykin on 3 May 2009Atlantic Co. Historical Soc. Vol 6 pg 158at his Will was made at Galloway Twp., Old Gloucester Co. NJ and was proved 27 Nov. 1785. Executors were his sons, William and Daniel Leeds. The witnesses were Joseph Johnson, Josiah Leeds and Jonathan Smith. Inv was made by Joseph Johnson and Nehemiah Leeds on 15 Oct. 1785- 81.0.6 lbs.; that he married 1st on 6/7/1737 Rebecca Cordery or Cordry and 2nd 9/19/1721 Sarah (Mathis) Coate. Also stated he was 80 years old at death, making a gestimate of his birthdate as 1705, not 1708:Husbandman; wife Sarah 1/2 of my personal estate. John, Daniel and Vincent, farming tools. Dau Dorothy Smith 1/2 of personal estate which I give to my wife after her death. Son Jeremiah the other 1/2. Son William part of my plantation bounded by land of the heirs of my brother Japhet. Sons John, Daniel and Vincent the rest of my plantation; also my back lands of which is the remainder of a tract I sold to my son Jeremiah and one lies bet lands surveyed to Jesse Smith on the north and land surveyed to Edward Doughty on the south and one salt marsh of 50 acres. Sons William, John, Daniel and Vincent my cedar swamp on Beaver Run and my fishing ground on the banks of the Great Bay, and all my right on Brigintine Beach and shares of propriety." LEEDS, John (I13993)

3857 There is a John Wilson from Harshow MM, Lancashire, Eng. who arrived on Quaker certificate on Dec 17, 1718 in Philadelphia, PA who might be this John or a parent/uncle of this John Wilson. (C-720)

There is a possibility that he was the John Wilson of east Marlborrough, Chester Co, PA who married Elizabeth Jackson, d. of John Jackson, South Carolina., on 10/24/1741 at Londongrove. There were no Wilson witnesses. Jno. Cook, Jacob and Mary Wright were among the witnesses. He might have been the John Wilson who witnesses the marriage of Samuel Pope and Elizabeth Stevenson in Menlesson Twp., Pa in 1751 along with an Alexander Underwood and many others. Many of the Wilsons in this area at the time were Irish Quakers.

He might be the following John Wilson in "Chester Co., Pennsylvania Wills": Book Page: B:155, Surname: Wilson, Given Name: John, Title: Yeoman, Description: Decedent, Prove Date: 7 Aug 1773, Remarks: John Wilson of Letterkinny, yeoman. 23 Aug 1769. Sons John, Hugh, James, Samuel and William. Exs., sons James, Samuel and William Wilson.
WILSON, John * (I15894)

3858 There is a Johnnie H., age 33 in the 1910 census for Greene Co., Illinois living within 2 house of Jasper Coates and 3 houses of Willis Coates. Jasper is the one that's old enough to be their father, so I'm surmizing that Jasper had a sod Johnnie H. COATS, Jasper (I5345)

3859 There is a Josias Coate living in W. Branch MM, Miami Co., OH that was married to a Sarah and had a daughter named Mary M. who died in that county on 1/20/1871 and was buried in Union. The info from Hinshaw could easily apply to this famiC-95) He is likely the Josiah Coate on page 454 of the 1840 Newton Twp., Miami Co., OH census near other members of his family. There is also a Josiah Coate who was in the Co. K, 86th O.V.I. whose name is in large letters on a rather large memorial in the center of a town crossroads in Newton Twp. Ohio for having died a hero in defense of the Union. It did not give the birth dates of any of the dozen soldiers listed. COATE, Josiah (I7945)

3860 There is a lot of guessing going on with William Vastall (spelling according to his will.) Note that the spelling could have been misinterpreted from a double s at that time would have looked like an st instead of ss.
I have found an autosomal DNA triangulation match for my Uncle, a cousin who also descends through William Vestal Jr. and a descendant of William Vassall and Anne King as has been traced by some in the past. It is on chromosome 1, from abt. 242,000,000-244,000,000. This one small triangulation from 3.6 -5.9 cM's is for ancient history but so far it is not a pile up region and could refer to a common ancestors back in the l500's. The triangulation does tell us it is inherited DNA. However, 1 is not solid proof for me. I will continue to study this.

"Asa Vestal, son of Jesse Vestal and Sophia McDonald, dictated a family history in 1862 which is in the Mendenhall/Lightfoot file folder collections at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1300 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19107. A transcription of that pamphlet is here [1] (as of Nov 2018). The early family history in the pamphlet seems erroneous. It has William who immigrated marrying a Welsh woman, Elizabeth Messer, met aboard ship during the crossing. It also lists children: David, James, William, John, Thomas, Jemima and Mary and says William the son never married. Currently in WikiTree Elizabeth Mercer is the wife (documented) of William son of William." Wikitree

In the meantime, no one has found actual baptismal records for William or his supposed brother Daniel under the spelling of Vestell, Vestill, Vastill, and derivatives that have been found for them in England. there were multiple errors in Asa's memory that have been verified as inaccurate in first hand documents. I am therefore not accepting his statement that William had a brother Daniel or that he was born in England. We have no proof of where he was born. We have no proof he had a brother Daniel. I am looking at actual records and studying DNA. Right now, this theory is what those tell us.

In C-611, William's birth place is listed as Southhampton, ENG. This is the port where many Quaker families embarked from to come to the new world. However, he was a Baptist by religion.

There are NO Vestal's in all of English birth, marriage or death records from 1600-1690 in 2023. Here are the records of the soundex spellings on FreeReg.org.uk for phonetic spellings of the same. The closest spellings are Vestall, Vystall, Vestell, and Vestill. There are no William Vestal's with this spelling.

William first appears in Chester Co., Pa records in 1692 when he took Guardianship of the children of his wife's first husband. (C-2251g) He was a taxpayer in Birmingham Twp., Chester Co., PA in 1693 and 1696. William was listed as a Constable of Birmingham on Mar. 12, 1694/5.

He was a Baptist by religion and a farmer by trade. (C-2141) He and Thomas Moore were deeded 100 acres of land lying in Concord on that same day. He and Richard Buffington (the first settler in the area) jointly purchased 218 acres in Bradford, Chester Co., PA in 1696 and an adjoining 218 in 1701. They then each took 218 acres to themselves, with William taking the l701 purchase. This land was between Brandywine, below the forks, almost to Srode's Mill. He built a home on this property and died shortly after.

Benjamin Mendenhall of Concord, PA confirmed his agreement to sell William Vestal Sr. the land where his home stood to his widow, Alice on Mar 2, 1709. (C-2251g) A large stone home still stands on it today which is alluded to be his home. (C-869) The exact reference to this deed is found in Bryant's Chester Co. Land Records: "Deed. On 02 Mar 1709 Benjamin MENDENHALL of Concord, yeoman, to Alice VESTALL, widow of William VESTALL, dec'd and William VESTALL the son. Whereas Benjamin MENDENHALL sold but did not convey the tract in Bradford bounded by Brandywine creek, land of John MARTIN and John BORRADY. containing 125 acres. To William VESTALL the father now dec'd for the sum of ? 10 and full performance of articles of agreement made on 12 Oct 1699 who devised by his last will and testament dated 19 Jan 1701 to Alice VESTALL during her life then to son William VESTALL who paying ? 30 to his brother George VESTALL. Now land is conveyed to Alice VESTALL and William VESTALL. Signed Benjamin MENDENHALL. Delivered in the presence of John BETHELL, Job HARVEY and Isaac TAYLOR. Recorded 26 May 1709. (C389)"

William and Alice had four children. The only child who is known to have descendants was William Jr. Their first daughter, Sarah, drowned in a small pond of water in 1696. Soon after, on June 10, 1697, Alice was baptized at the Brandywinde Baptist Church. Their daughter, Hannah, was baptized there on August 30, 1698. There is a distinct possibility that William was a Baptist already. Alice was a Quaker up to this point in time. Her departure could have been influenced by George Keith who was causing "much trouble" at the time and by her daughter, Sarah's death.

"Will of William Vestal

County court (/) Reg. Gen" Wikitree (C-804, 2251g)

I have a DNA match to this couple on segment 13 at segments 72586785-89195944 with cousins whom are sisters and me named Joanna Blackburn Brumit and Kathy R. Blackburn Bowman as well as another cousin also there named Melinda Bach.

VASTALL, William Vestal Sr. (I15761)

3861 There is a Mary Coppock who married a Jehu Inman in Newberry, SC that might be this Mary Coppock. If so, she would likely have been born in 1775 or after as Jehu was born in 1775. COPPOCK, Mary (I8231)

3862 There is a Nancy Clark who married Jonathan Buster on 3/27/1845 in Gallia Co., Ohio. Due to age and place it is likely that this belongs to her. She islisted by her maiden name in her father's will and possibly never even married. (CL-

CLARK, Nancy Virginia (I243)

3863 There is a Nathaniel who owned 80 acres in section 10 in 1840 in Monroe Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio or 40 acres in Sec. 9, Wheeling Twp. (CL-136) TOBIN, Nathaniel - G-M201 or G-FTA17398 (I7564)

3864 There is a note at the end of her christening record that could easily be her death date, but I need a translator to verify that. Note that her birth parents look like they are Mihaly Vovcsik and Anna, but it is very difficult to read. Tuld easily be wrong as she would have been born years before her parents married. One of the witnesses at her christening was Marie Dudik (her grandmother?). VOVCSIK, Anna (I2538)

3865 There is a note in her and her sister's baptismal record that their guardian was John ?. I'm assuming that refers to her much older brother John Coate from her father's first marriage. Her and her likely twin sister's christening date mive been May 4, 1671. She or her step sister are likely to be the Joanne Coate who was buried on 13 AUG 1673 or (Anna?) 12 JUN 1674 in St. Andrew, Curry Rivel Parish. COATE, Joane (I2512)

3866 There is a possibility that Samuel married a second time to Sarah Talmadge on 18 Mar. 1679 in New Haven, CT. (F-68a) Samuel Hotchkiss was listed as a proprietor in New Haven in 1685. (F-68d) HOTCHKISS, Lieut. Samuel (I8288)

3867 There is a possibility that the Chatfield line has some relation to royalty as there is Coat of Arms listed in a visitation series for them. One correspondent had heard it suggested that this line might be descended from a William de Catd. (C-1480, 2194) CHATFIELD, Thomas (I16663)

3868 There is a possibility that this John is a grandson or gr. grandson of William Gifford married to Eleanor Paulet (d. of John Paulet and Alice) in Aberfeilde, Berkshire, England. Their son John Henry was born about 1502. John (Henry) han John in 1522, a son Richard in 1530 and a son George in 1532. These children were all born in Hampshire, England. (C-1564) GIFFORD, John (I15797)

3869 There is a possibility that this Nathaniel was married to Arabella Chavasse who was born on April 4, 1816 and died on Apr. 3, 1851. She was buried in the South Wall of the nave of St. Thomas Church and is listed as the beloved wife of Nal Forte, Esq. (F-24) A descendant, Colin Wise, of an Arabella Chavasse (1778-1829) and a John Millard who married in 1814, theorizes that the above Arabella had the full name Arabella Chavasse Millard and was a daughter of her Arabella (b.1778). They often gave daughters the mother's maiden name in this family as a middle name. The timing and name obviously fit very well for this to be true. (F-601) FORTE, Nathaniel (I56)

3870 There is a possibility that this Rebecka is the one born about 1797 who married Barzilla Harrison in Miami Co., OH in 1818. COATS, Rebecka (I8867)

3871 There is a possibility that this unknown Dimmock also had a son named Joseph, b. abt 1776 in Halesowen, Staffordshire, England whom married Mary Stephens and had many children in Worcestershire, England. Joseph died in 1845 in Mushroom, tershire Green, Worcestershire, England. Joseph's parents were Joseph and Prudence Heathcock Dimmock. Joseph Sr. was born in Dudley, Worcestershire, England making this a likely relative. I also have 2 DNA cousin matches that go through him according to Gedmatch in Jan. of 2018. This info is from a My Heritage record citing census info.

My theory is that the Joseph married to Prudence had several sons. His son John died as an infant. His son Benjamin is the only son of the correct age to be this unknown Dimmack, father of my John Dimmack. Benjamin was born in 1756 in Dudley, Worcestershire, England.

This line of Dimmocks is traced back to William Dimmock who would have been born before 1611 of Bishampton, Worcestershire, England. This is info from the English and Wales births and christenings index.
DIMMOCK, Joseph (I10082)

3872 There is a Rachel C. Gaskins working as a Domestic, age17, right next door to Henry J. Gaskins in the 1860 census that I suspect is his oldest daughter. (CL-563) GASKINS, Henry J. (I9108)

3873 There is a Ralph Weekes living in St. John's parish in Barbados in 1679/80, with 2 servants, 11 negores and 38 acres that is probably this Reverend Ralph Weekes. He might also be the Ralph who was in the militia under the command of Capt. John Dempster in that same census. In his will in St. Phillips Parish dated Aug. 5, 1700, he names son's, Ralph, Nathaniel, John, Thomas, and Roger. (F-160)

As to Ralph's parentage, these are the earliest Weekes in Barbados, any of whom who could be his father. By name, John and Thomas are the most likely. 1) Thomas who left England for Barbados on the "Expedition" on Nov. 20, 1635. (F-596) 2) Symon who came on the Dartmouth on Apr. 15, 1634 at age 16. He was a worsted weaver. (F-397) 3) John who was 21 at the reading of his father John's will probated Aug. 22, 1660. (F-397) 4) Their are two brothers, Thomas and Roger Weekes who were cousins to Nathaniel Webb who would have been born before 1655 in studying his will dated 1705. (F-163)

The possible brothers to Rev. Ralph Weekes are: 1) A Thomas Weekes who owned 11 acres in St. Lucyes, Barbados in 1679. 2) A Thomas Weeks who was under Capt. Robt. Harrison's militia in 1679/80. 3) A Jno. Weekes and wife were buried in the Parish of St. Petters between Mar. 25, 1678 and Oct. 29, 1679. 4) A John Wekes of St. Lucy's Parish owned one slave but no land in the 1679/80 census. 5) A John Weeks was under Captain ELy's Co. in the same census. 6) A Richard Weekes was a soldier under Capt. Scotts Co. in 1679/80. (F-397)

Rev. Ralph Weeks was a Quaker according to his will. He would have been a very early Quaker as that religion was not founded till the mid 1600's in England.
WEEKES, Rev. Ralph (I7651)

3874 There is a Richard J. Tonkin in the 1891 census for St. Mark's Parish, Islington, London, England who is the right age to be this Richard. He is 52, b. St. Ives, Cornwall, ENG and a carpenter by trade. His place of birth is close to whs father was born. His trade is the same as his fathers. If this is him, he was married to an Isabella also. She was age 45. They had 3 children, Harry, Maggie and Ruby. They lived at 67 Morey Rd. in Islington Civil Parish, London, England. It's also possible he died before 1841 as he is not listed with his parents in that census. TONKIN, Richard John (I1252)

3875 There is a Samuel Calhoun in early Hogestown, Cumberland County in 1747 records. https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-60631-325/history-of-cumberland-and-adams-counties-pennsylvania-part-1-in-history-of-cumberland-and-adams-countiesylvania-part-1?s=293835861#fullscreen CALHOONE, Samuel (I2878)

3876 There is a second Roger Fort who was the son of Antony Fort who was baptized Sept. 19, 1587, in Shepton Beauchamp which is 3 miles from South Petherton.

The Roger I connected here, had sons named William and James that were listed in their grandfather William's will of 1639. This Roger was a churchwarden from 1636-1637. (F-472)

His listed marriages are the marriages that go with the named children. There is a possibility that the first couple of them belong to the Roger Forte who was born in 1587. However, because that Roger would have been in his late 30's before his first marriage and was from Shepton Beuachamp, it is more likely to connect as presented.
FORTT, Roger (I13670)

3877 There is a Thomas, George and George's son Samuel who lived in Mecklenburg, NC around 1770 that might be this Thomas or his siblings or children. CALHOUN, Thomas (I10669)

3878 There is a tradition in one Harp family that 3 brothers that took the oath of allegiance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania One tdied crossing the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, one went to Kentucky and the third was named John Harpe. He wn in 1715 and died in 1795 in Frederick Co., MD where he had lived most his life. He has descendants that later moved to Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. This tradition could apply to this John and his family by timing and numbers of brothers. However, it does not fit due to the fact that the other brothers died in Pennsylvania (C-2199) There is a John Harp that by age, could be this Harp. He was born in 1732 and lived in Braddock Heights, MD. He had a son named Boston who moved south as a young man. This Boston is believed to be the Boston Harp that died in Fayette Co., KY around 1814. (C-714) HERB, Anna Rosina (I8213)

3879 There is a very interesting passenger list for Ellis Island, where a Maria Dudik, age 7 of Hungary likely traveling with Julia Volcsik, (listed directly after her), age 22, married with the ethnicity of "USA", who arrived on the ship Havm Bremen, Germany on Nov. 27, 1896. If this is this Julia... she was likely married in the United States and traveled to the "Old Country" to meet her husband's family and bring back her niece of age 7, Mary and Joseph Dudick's daughter. These two names traveling together seems more than coincidental, and I have estimated Julia's birth date from this record. Other records will confirm if she is that age. (D-199) PATRICK, Julia (I16244)

3880 There is a will that at a stretch, might apply to this Hugh Coppocke. It took place in 1626 in Rosthern. He was listed as a Yeoman. (C-2250E) COPPOCK, Hugh (I16721)

3881 There is a William Pringle who was divorced and living by himself in a rented property in Cambria Co., PA in the 1920 census and living with his son-in-law, J. Earle Pringle's family in the 1930 census. He was a physician. PRINGLE, William (I7377)

3882 There is a William Tobin who owned 9 acres in 1840 in Monroe Twp., Guernsey Co., Ohio that might be this William though he would have been only 13 at the time. (CL-114) In the 1850 Washington Twp., Guernsey Co., OH records he is listed aeacher at age of 23. (CL-327) They lived there in 1851 according to the tax records for Guernsey Co., Ohio He died in the mines (presumably gold mines) of California at an unknown date. (CL-327) TOBIN, William B. (I13125)

3883 There is a Wright Cook in the 1800 Newberry Co., SC census listed as being between 16 and 26 with a wife of the same age and no children. On 1/25/1806, he and his family got a certificate to remove to Miami MM, OH from Bush River MM, Souolina. (C-95, 931) COOK, Marion Wright (I12036)

3884 There is also a William Benton who married a Caty G. Griffith on Apr. 17, 1828 in Montgomery Co., Maryland that could be a first marriage for this William. There is a William D. Benton married to a Ruth in the 1850 Frederick Co., MD. He was age 58, she 56 and their children living at home still were: Phoebe, Thomas, Margaret, Joseph and Wornetter?(a female). They were all born in Maryland. William is possibly the William Benton who attended Mt. Lebanon Sunday School, a Methodist Congregation, in Montgomery Co., Maryland in their ledger for 1856-1859. (CL-702) BENTON, William W. (I5277)

3885 There is an Alfred Dimmack who married in 1866 in West Bromwich, Shropshire/Staffordshire/Worcestershire, England who is likely to be this Alfred. His record needs ordered from the GRO in England. V6B, p.871.

He is also likely the Alfred visiting his Aunt Ann Dimmack, wife of Joseph Dimmack in the following 1881 census record. "An Ann Dimmack, head of household, who was born in 1829 in Quinton, Worcestershire, England where Joseph Dimmack lived in the 1871 census with his wife, has a servant, a gardener and 2 nephews living with her. One of them is my Alfred, b. abt 1848 in Dudley, Worcestershire, England. He was listed as married and a Dairy farmer at the time. Another nephew is also helping her on her farm. His name is Albert Dimmack, b. abt 1861 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England."

He might be the son of Mathias Dimmack who was born in 1860 but who has a different birthplace listed in the 1871 census for him or he could be a brother to my Alfred and was simply born after the 1861 census. It would mean that my Dimmack family moved right after the census to Birkenhead, Cheshire, England if this is an accurate birthplace.

Alfred is not in the 1891 census for England. He might be the Alfred Dimmack living in Wheeling West, Virginia who lists his birthdate as 1845 instead in a U.S. census. If his wife's name turns out to match the wife in America, then this would make it rather likely as several of his siblings came to America after the 1881 census.

If this is the Alfred married to Harriet in Wheeling, West Virginia, then they had a daughter named Bessie in 1891 in Wheeling. If this is Fred who had a son named Ralph Eugene Dimmick in 1885 in Ansonia, Tioga Co., PA which was registered in the Roane, WV birth records than his wife's name was Myrtle Jessemin Dimmick instead.
DIMMACK, Alfred (I6352)

3886 There is an Ellen Brinton, widow, who was buried on Oct 10, 1612 in Sedgley Parish records, that could be this Ellen, though that is not proven. (C-1364) UNKNOWN, Ellen (I12482)

3887 There is another Ann Coate that died in 1674 in Curry Rivel who is an unaccounted for wife of a Coate. We only know of two Ann Coate's at the time. One was Ann Pole who was married to the Marmaduke Coate that moved to Burlington Co., NJ. Ther is this one. LOCK, Ann (I6719)

3888 There is another Benjamin Perry married to a Molsie first and Mary Starke, 2nd who had Madison Starke Perry. He should not be confused with this Benjamin who only had 2 daughters that are known about. (E) PERRY, Benjamin (I7834)

3889 There is another James Fucci who was born in 1903 and died in Meadville, Crawford Co., PA in April of 1977 who might be this James instead. I chose the record of the James born in 1904 because he was living in Erie, Erie Co., PA when, and that is where James is listed as living in a 1974 family obituary where he is listed as close living kin. FUCCI, James Joseph (I1652)

3890 There is great controversy about who the father of three different Doanes are in early Massachusetts. They might or might not be siblings. DOANE (I17076)

3891 There is incongruous information on this Thomas. There might have been a different set of parents for Thomas and Margery as their children's christening dates differ by about 15 years and Thomas's death date is given as two death dates dng on the second hand source it's found in, as 1587 or 1612 in Billie Lewis's book. If in 1612, he was still buried at Sedgely. BRINTON, Thomas (I12329)

3892 There is much controversy over the parentage of Hedwig in all major medieval sources. Current German research which is heaviest at the moment believes her to be the daughter of Margrave Henry who died fighting the Normans in Paris on 8/. His title was the Duke of Austrasians. Her mother was probably a granddaughter of St. Ida (d.c.820) and Count Egbert (living 809-11), a Saxon. Other theories are that she is the illegitimate daughter of Arnulf, King of Germany and Oda of Bavaria, (A.R., Charlemagne and his World); or Heinrich (d. 885) Markgraf of the Netherlands, (Isenburg); or Henry, Compte de la Marche, (Sallot). (C-1375) HEDWIG (I13166)

3893 There is no birth/baptism record for Anna in Zborov Parish, Slovakian church records suggesting she was born elsewhere. CZEKELNIK, Anna (I5699)

3894 There is no burial record for this John in Church of England records suggesting he emigrated to another country or converted to a non-conformist religion after 1593.

He had lands in Eastwood, Essex, England and Stepney, Middlesex (later to become London), England.

VASSAL, Major Sir John (I17552)

3895 There is NO PROOF that the James Calhoun of Putnam Co., Indiana was married to a Rebecca Parrish at all. They had him confused with the James married to Rebecca Parrish in Guilford in 1822. Typical trees for him had him also listed with twohters that belonged to the James Calhoun whose daughters, Eliza and Martha were listed as underage in his 1838 estate administration in Guilford Co., NC. That James was married to Rebecca Parish. Underage children listed in his 1838 Estate Administration in Guilford, NC list daughters Eliza and Martha. There is NO proof that the James married to Nancy had daughters Eliza or Martha. Those two daughters and his wife when listed as Rebecca are INCORRECT. It would be easy to make these mistakes without seeing the admin for the James who died in 1838.

We know that this James married to a Nancy as per census records, had a d. Mary "Polly" who married a James Clark. They had a son J. Winfield Clark who is listed as being born in Guilford Co., NC on his death certificate. This suggests that James married to Nancy might also have been from Guilford Co., NC.

It is a complete theory that this James is the son of John Johnstone Calhoun by his age and likely place of birth.
CALHOON, James (1 from 10-15 in the 1810 census 16-25 in the 1820 census 1 of 3) (I11560)

3896 There is only 1 Coate living in Keinton Mandeville who could be his father and that is a Charles Coate. Charles (Sr.) was born in Curry Rivel but died at a very elderly age of 91 in Keinton Mandeville. COAT, Charles (I6902)

3897 There is only one Social Security record for a Clark McCalla, but I have no certainty that it is this Clark. MCCALLA, Clark (I9419)

3898 There is only one Wojciech Gewont who emigrated through Ellis Island in the records. He is the correct age and from the correct area to be the original immigrant in this line. According to family tradition from Autumn Giewont's side of tily, he and his future wife both came over at different times while they were single. They met and married in Pennsylvania in 1907. According to the Ellis Island Internet site Wojciech was age 18 when he arrived on Apr 8, 1903 on the Prinzess Irene from Breman, Germany. His nationality is listed as Galicy (Galicia) which changed hands between Russia, Poland, Austria and Germany multiple times. His town of origin is listed as Dzianisz. This town is locate just 3 miles from Mount Giewont in the southern central tip of current day Poland! It is in the Nowy Sacz Administrative division of current day Poland near the major city of Zakopane.

He changed his name to Albert in this country as that was the American translation for his name, Wojciech. The correct translation of Wojciech in our language is Adelbert, so it looks like he gave himself a more popular version of his American name. His emigration record asked him if he was meeting someone, and he stated that it was cousin, Tedr_ej Plasinski in Uniontown, PA, but it indicates that his cousin lived in Oliver, Pennsylvania. He and his wife by family tradition also returned to their homeland sometime after their marriage before coming back to Pennsylvania. Their arrival to America took place on Feb. 11, 1925. Their visa was issued in Warsaw. They were using their original names which were spelled Wojeiech and Marja Gewont. They traveled on the S.S. Zeeland from Antwerp, Belgium to New York. Their closest living relative whom they had visited was "father Jedrzej Gewont" in Dzianis, Poland. Their destination was Ralph, Pennsylvania. (G-1,2)

According to granddaughter, Marilyn Turnage, Albert and his wife went back for several years to Poland where he worked in the Coal mines and Mary ran a Boarding house. In the 1940 census, he is listed at age 56 with his wife at age 40. They were both born in Poland. Their home was worth $3000.00 which seemed high compared to the value of the neighbors property. He was a farmer and worked 70 hours a week. He made $720.00 income in 1939 and this seemed about average compared to his neighbors. For citizenship of the foreign born, it says "N/A". These are the only persons with any mark on this column on this census page. They had children born in Pennsylvania named Mary, Mike, Stanley and Charles Giewont.

According to his death record in 1958, he lived at R.D. 2, Edinboro, Pennsylvania before he died of a one day stay at St. Vincent's Hospital in in Erie, PA of Coronary Thrombus. His wife only listed his country of birth, Poland. She did not know his parent's names.
GIEWONT, Wojciech Albert (I9675)

3899 There is some controversy on who Mary's mother was. Burke says it was her father's first wife instead. SCOTLAND, Mary Queen of (I5120)

3900 There is some discrepancy in this and the preceding generation between CD-100 and CD-102. John Puleston in CD-102 says John's father is John Puleston and mother is Alison Ferch Howel. Their son is listed as John Sir Knight Puleston and huse Gainor Ferch Robert (C-448) The information on the son is backed up on p. 568 in the ancestors and descendents of Hugh Harry and Elizabeth Brinton. (C-437) PULESTON, John (I12345)
