He is currently theorized to be the son of Marmaduke and Elizabeth in his baptismal record on Apr. 4, 1738 in North Petherton, Somerset, England. The Big Y test is currently predicting him to have Marmaduke Coate, b. abt. 1552, as his first MRCA with my line. There is a 2nd John Coate b in 1738 who might be him instead.
