  If he is the Thomas Thorpe of Barton on Humber, Lincolnshire, England, it would explain why he did not move with his father to Kent Co., Maryland in 1680. In colonial days according to Scholastic, children were treated as adults by age 14. Males in Virginia were able to own land and or be taxed at age 16. I have 3 cousins on MyHeritage that descend from this Thomas whom triangulate between me and many other Tharp/Thorpe descendants.
