  According to the census records, John and Ella moved to Michigan between 1921 and 1925 where their 3rd son was born in Michigan. In the 1920 census, he was listed as a machinist. The 1930 census states that German was spoken in his homre he came to America, but the 1920 census states that Slovak was spoken by both he and his wife. He is listed as a toolmaker in the 1930 census for an Auto Plant. His home was worth $6500.00 at that point in time which was nearly the most expensive home on that census page.
