• Notes

  Ninian first shows up in 1650 records where he was captured during the battle of "Dunbar" in Scotland. He was taken with about 150 Scotsman to Barbados and arrived in Calvert County, MD by 1652. He was an indentured servant to a Richard Hall for 5 years. He could not have been having children back in Fife, Scotland during this time as is often attributed to him. If he had daughter Jane Margaret in 1655, she would have had to have been born in Calvert Co., MD to an unknown mother. He was a surveyor of property in Maryland records. He first purchased land in 1682 in these records. This suggests he raised some children in Maryland without owning his own land. He became a land owner of great property and wealth.
