Notes - There is NO PROOF that the James Calhoun of Putnam Co., Indiana was married to a Rebecca Parrish at all. They had him confused with the James married to Rebecca Parrish in Guilford in 1822. Typical trees for him had him also listed with twohters that belonged to the James Calhoun whose daughters, Eliza and Martha were listed as underage in his 1838 estate administration in Guilford Co., NC. That James was married to Rebecca Parish. Underage children listed in his 1838 Estate Administration in Guilford, NC list daughters Eliza and Martha. There is NO proof that the James married to Nancy had daughters Eliza or Martha. Those two daughters and his wife when listed as Rebecca are INCORRECT. It would be easy to make these mistakes without seeing the admin for the James who died in 1838.
We know that this James married to a Nancy as per census records, had a d. Mary "Polly" who married a James Clark. They had a son J. Winfield Clark who is listed as being born in Guilford Co., NC on his death certificate. This suggests that James married to Nancy might also have been from Guilford Co., NC.
It is a complete theory that this James is the son of John Johnstone Calhoun by his age and likely place of birth.
