  • Notes
    • This Joseph is possibly in the 1800 Newberry Census records between the age of 16 and 26 with a wife of the same age and two sons under age ten. (C-931) Unlike most of the Quaker families of the time, he and his wife remained in South Caa during the great exodus. That is likely because he was disowned by the Quaker church when he married his wife who was not a Quaker. In the 1810 Newberry census, he might be the Joseph who had 2 sons under age 10, 1 male age 16 to 26 and himself from 26 to 45. Females included 3 females under age 10, 1 female age 10 to 16 and a wife his own age. (C-2307) His will appears to be probated in 1819 in Newberry Co., SC with administrators R. Evans and J. Coppock listed. (C-1403)
