  She was born in Ohio according to their 1850 census record and was only age 49 at the time. This does not match other birth date information for her, which means she was likely underestimating her age. Her place of birth is listed as Souolina in the 1860 Howard Co., Indiana census where she is living with her son Joseph. She is listed at age 63 in this record. Her son John gives her birthplace as South Carolina. If she was born in 1797, then her birth place is more likely to be South Carolina. She died of smallpox in Tipton Co., IN according to her daughter, "Hettie's" obituary. She is listed at age 66 years, 10 months, and 20 days on her cemetery stone with a death date of Apr. 6, 1864.
