  • Notes
    • Vickie Leimback said he was married to his cousin, Mary Vestal instead of the spouse I have listed. (C-611) Jay gives his wife's name as Hannah Vestal, his first cousin for which he was disowned by Friends on September 5, 1773. (C-869)

Both these refer to a note in Quaker records that state William Vestal was married to his first cousin on 6/7/1773 and disowned on 9/5/1773. In Anderson's book on the Caviness, she lists his wife and first cousin as Sarah Vestal, d. of David an
d Sarah Chamness Vestal. In some sources, his wife is also called Hannah Potts. By timing and place it is likely to apply to this William. (C-955) Also, Vickie Leimback differs in the death date which she estimated at about 1781 in Berkeley Co., VA.
