• Notes

  Jesse lived in Union Twp., Miami Co., Ohio in the 1820 census and in Newton Twp., Miami Co., Ohio in the 1830 census. (C-1025) We know that Jesse married Anna Cothran from two sources, Hinshaw's Quaker Encyclopedia which lists both theirs and one of their children's marriage records. He sells his land in Miami Co., Ohio in 1836 and shows up in Pulaski Co., IN in 1837. He is in Hinshaw, Union M.M., OH when he marries and then disappears from Hinshaw's Quaker records. According to Alan Coppock, he left SC in 1805, moved to Ohio and then finally moved to Indiana in 1837. He had 6 sons and 1 daughter, plus 1wife, Anna, when they moved to Indiana. He built the 1st log cabin in Pulaski, IN where his next son was born in 1838 named Olvier D. He was elected one of the first three County Commissioners of Pulaski County in 1841. Anna died before him. He married 2 other women before he died in 1851. He has a standing tombstone in that county that verifies this.
