Notes - He was knighted in London in 1642 according to the "General Amory of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales." His Coat of Arms was a "Or (gold) lion ramp. gu.(gules) collared ar(argent)". This means that the background is gold. The lion is rd he is wearing a collar in silver. His crest was "A nags head couped gu(gules or red)." A crest is something worn on top of the shield like a helmet. The couped means that the head was cut off by an even line being drawn below it. His son, John Holdsworth Mallory is listed as "the same Arms and Crest. canton az(azure or blue)." I believe this means that he has the same lion coat and crest but he also has a blue top left hand corner on his Coat of Arms and crest. (F-635)
This red lion rampart (viewed from the side) is the most common of the Mallory families crest. Some of the family has more than one lion in their crest, but they appear to be of the same familial line. I am deducing that since our Peter does not have the same DNA as this family, then we need to look at the crests for the two other Mallory families that have varying crests for his descent.
