He is listed as the son of William and Elizabeth Cunningham Hunter of Clack..., Scotland in some family trees. I have triangulations with William and Elizabeth Cunningham Hunter that made no sense until I discovered that his parents are when there is likely an error in tracing. We don't know if our family descends from James Alexander of Duns or from William and Elizabeth Cunningham Hunter is what this indicates.

Alexander was likely married more than once based upon the number of children he has.
