• Notes

  He applied for his Social Security number in Alabama before 1951 according to his S.S. record where it stated that he was born in Alabama. Both were apparently unknown by a relative who submitted the information as his application for Social Security in Sep. of 1940 lets us know that he was actually born in Florida. It's also where his parent's names are listed. He went by the name of Willie when he applied for a S.S. number. According to his cemetery stone, he served in WWII as a Private First Class. The US Dept. of Veteran Affairs in their death records states that he enlisted on the 4 Mar 1943 and was released on 21 Dec 1945.
