• Notes

  Our Daniel was supposedly a war veteran. There was a Daniel Evans who achieved the rank of Private in Co. D, 179th Reg. of the Ohio Infantry. He enlisted on Aug. 29, 1864 and was discharged on May 15, 1865 with a lung complaint and a cd hand. His address was listed as Cora, Perry Twp., Gallia Co., Ohio. If he is our Daniel he either enlisted at a young age or we have his birth date estimated incorrectly. (CL-363) A Daniel who was born about 1846 was married to a Ceelia and had a young child in the 1870 Ohio Twp, Gallia Co., Ohio. He lived next to 66 year old Evan Evans and 61 year old David Evan. (CL-383) This is probably not our Dan, as family history passed down to Dan Evans from his Aunt Margaret said that Dan had no children.
