In Oct. of 1796, Ann Lord at age 14, chose George Canneman as guardian to her inherited estate until she obtained the age of 21. George Canneman and Jeffrey Clark, Esq. paid Govenor Richard Nowell two thousand pounds for the priviledge. Later Ann Lord's step father sold some land to her husband, Matty Coates and he in turn sold some of the land to another person (History of the Counties of Gloucester, Salem and Cumberland, New Jersey).
