  • Notes
    • I've seen James Reeder's birth date listed the exact same day in 1778 and 1788. I believe the 1778 one is much more likely to be correct as in the 1850 census, he is living with his wife, Mary, in Newberry Co., SC at age 70, a farmer. She is listed at age 65. James is likely the James Reeder who is mentioned in the administration of John Cole, Sr.'s will on Jan 2, 1809. (C-2274) James Reeder was one of the persons making purchases at William Griffin's estate sale in 1826 in Newberry. Other purchasers included Samuel Coate and a (James?) Wilson, possible brother-in-law. Samuel (Father-in-law of this James Reeder) died in 1807, so this Samuel is likely to be the younger one in the area who joined the Bush River Baptist Church in the 1820's and was dismissed from it in 1827. It is not known how the two Samuel's connect, but it is possible the younger one is the son who appears in the 1800 census records for Samuel (Sr.).
