  Elias married in Montgomery Co., Ohio. He was born in Ohio according to the 1850 Montgomery County Census, but other second hand sources state that he was born in South Carolina. I do not know which is accurate. He probably is the Elias B. Coats who was in the 1827 Union Twp., Miami Co., OH tax lists.
