Notes - Vernal enlisted in World War II on Oct. 13, 1941. He had completed his high school education and was an automobile mechanic by trade at the time. He also was listed as unmarried. He achieved the rank of Private. We visited their fan I was young and I remember watching them shear sheep. They still had water in a pump on the outside. I played with their son, Tommy. Vernal died in his 40's and his son was still fairly young at the time.
