- If Karen Stone is correct, it was Samuel Kendall that was married to Sarah Coates. "Sam Kendall was the only one listed in the 1810 census in Newberry district. He had 206 acres on the Patterson creek area which was surveyed by Marmaduke in 1816. The will was proved Sept 9, 1937 and recorded July 23 1839".
Samuel Kendall immigrated to US through Charleston and settled in the Newberry district. His naturalization papers dated 1811 stated he was 30 years old and had been in this country about 5 years. At the time of his naturalization, he and Sarah had 2 small daughters. Sarah Isabella was about 2 years and Elizabeth was five months. Sarah was born about 1775 in Newberry District South Carolina. They moved to Dallas Co. Alabama before 1820 as they are listed there in the 1820 Census. Their other children were: Catherine Kendall born abt. 1812, Dallas Co. Al.; Amelia Kendall b. abt. 1815, Dallas Co; Eliza Jane Kendall b. abt 1818; Dallas Co. Al, John D. Benjamin Kendall b.June 21 1821, Dallas Co. Al; and Thomas Milton Kendall b. 1826,Dallas Co Al.
