• Notes

  "Michael Coate was born the 15th of (.....ty) December on the thrid day of the week at a half after five in the morning in the year of our Lord 1767" according to his father's bible. He left a will in Burlington Co., NJ in 1814. His parents were Quakers but turned to the Methodist faith. He became a respected Methodist Minister following in his brother Samuel's footsteps.
