    Notes:

    Ann wrote her will in 1818, not quite 7 years before her death. In it, she only named her children, Elizabeth Owens and Lewis W. Duvall. Witnesses were Ephraim Etchison and Samuel Welsh, Sr. It is not known how Samuel is related, but it is suspected that he might be her brother. A Samuel Welsh lived in Montgomery Co., MD and witnessed the sale of land by John Ward to Henry Griffith on Oct. 16, 1779. (CL-707)

    He is likely the John Duvall who had a subscription to the "Christian Advocate and Journal, Zion's Herald" 1829-1831. His post office address was Darnestown, Montgomery Co., Maryland at the time. This was a Methodist paper. He is probably the John Duval who leaves the following will, or a transcription thereof: "Grandchildren: John G., Cecilius B., William F., Joseph J., Summerville, Louisa R., Valier Duvall (youngest of 4 grandsons under age 21) - all real estate. Son" Grafton Duvall, his wife Harriet and their children (named above), Ex: Nephew John S. Duvall, son of testator's dec'd brother Hammon Duvall, Wit: William Burns, Edward Woodfiled, Lyde Griffith."

    Notes:

    He might be the Lewis Duvall who married Mary Perkins on Dec 23, 1802 in Anne Arundel Co., Maryland. I can't tell for sure which Lewis he is in the 1800 census for Montgomery Co., Maryland, but if he's the Lewis, Jr., he and his wife were over age 45. They had a daughter from age 10-16, one daughter and 2 sons from age 16-26 and 7 slaves. His 1820 census record needs located for Lewis W. Duvall on page 177 in Goshen Twp., Montgomery Co., Maryland. He is probably deceased by 1830 as he is not in further census records for Maryland.

    Lewis married Sarah WYVILLE on 2 Feb 1801 in , Montgomery, MD, USA. Sarah died after 1800 in Of Montgomery, MD, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    Early 20th century DAR records state that Hannah is the daughter of Benjamin Duvall, a Revolutionary War Soldier. However, there is clear evidence that this is not the case. Hannah Duvall married Edward Willett Benton in 1806 in Montogmery Co., Maryland records. Private Benjamin did not live there. Plus she is clearly listed as the heir of Lewis Duvall of Montgomery Co., Maryland (the county where she married) according to his estate settlement in 1817 where his children received equal shares of his estate. This is verified in the c1952 book entitled "Mareen Duvall of Middle Plantation" by Harry Wright Newman.

    Hannah married Edward Willett BENTON on 7 May 1806 in , Montgomery, MD, USA. Edward (son of Benjamin Smith BENTON and Susannah WILLET) was born on 4 Apr 1782 in , , MD, USA; died on 30 Jul 1868 in Ostrander, Delaware County, Ohio, United States of America; was buried in Newhouse Cemetery, Delaware, OH, USA.
