Notes:

There are several persons living in Sborov Parish, Saros, Slovakia at the same time as Josephus who are likely his relatives. There is a Susanna Hruskovics who married Andreas Maskovics (p. 138), a year or two before Josephus married. There is a Susanna Hruskovics who had an illegitimate son, Paulus on Jan. 14, 1864 who was baptized on Jan. 17, 1864. There is a Maria Hruskovics married to Josephus Orlovszki who had a daughter, Maria on Dec. 1, 1864 who was baptized the same day she was born. A Joannes Hruskovics was the godfather for a Joannes ( )kovics who was baptized on Oct. 2, 1867. (D:DOC)

I was unable to find he or his wife and family in the 1869 census for Presov, Zborov Parish, Slovakia in Ancestry. No father attended Josephus' wedding in 1861 suggesting he might have already died at the time or was working elsewhere. The only Hurskovits in Zborov around the time of Josephus' birth were couples named Martinus and Maria and Andras and Maria. We know his mother's name is Marias from his marriage record.The lazarus kit for John Joseph Dudick, Jr. gives his cousin, Philip HERSCHKOWITZ, GEDmatch Ref: 3875422 as a match 12.6 total cM's between them. They have one segment in common at 12.6 cM's. That suggests they could have a common Hruskovic/Herschovic ancestor 5 generations back. His son James inherited the same 12.6 cM's also suggesting that James was 5 generations away from this cousins' common ancestor. Jozsef Hruskovics likely emigrated to the U.S. on May 30, 1903 from the port of Bremen. He arrived on June 9, 1903. He was age 45, married, a laborer. He could read and write. He was from Zboro, Hungary. His destination was his son John Kve(xko) in Tuxedo, New York. It looks like he was in America previously in Jan. of 1898 also visiting Tuxedo, New York. Note that his age does not with his birthdate though if this is his record.

Notes:

Maria or her daughter Katie had four children that were born dead. She herself was baptized into the Roman Catholic faith in Zborov Church, Saros, Slovakia. It was probably in Saros, Hungary at the time. Her godparents were: Thomas Vojtuc and Anna (Simeto). (D-57)

Maria Kacsmar came to the U.S. on Mar. 12, 1896 with Maria, age 4 and Anna, age 2. She is listed at age 25 years, married and from Hungary. They departed from the port of Breman and were headed for Bradford, Pennsylvania. (This record is on page 90 of the Ship's roster named Saale built in 1886.)

In the 1920 census, Mary gives her place of birth as Cartva, Hungary like her daughter lists. I need to study to see if the baptismal record I found for her would be the same place with a different name due to political boundary changes.

Maria married Mihaly \ Michael KACSMAR before 1891. Mihaly (son of Gyorgy \ Georgius KACSMAR and Anna KURUTZEK \ KURUZEK \ KUNINCS?K \ KYSZCZAK) was born on 20 Oct 1869 in Koprivnica, Giraltovce, Slovakia; was christened on 20 Oct 1869 in Koprivnica, Giraltovce, Slovakia; died in May 1949 in Degolia, Mckean, PA, USA. Notes:

Mary Kacmar or Kutchmire came to America with her family as a small child, settling in Backus, Pennsylvania. According to the 1930 census for Bradford, she came to America in 1896. She attended Backus schools. She and her husband, Joseph Onuffer had a very large family of 19 children. They lived in Lewis Run (1919- ), Custer City and Bradford, Pennsylvania. (D-37, 57) Family members in July 3, 1992 included Mary's children still living in Bradford: Pauline Weeter, Magdalene Orzetti, Betty Shembeda, Irene Pedine, James, Paul and Charles Onuffer. (F-DOC)

Notes:

She died from complications are giving birth to her 6th or 7th child a week after the birth at age 35. I think she and her husband owned a farm in Port Allegany. (D-57, 152) According to the 1920 cneus for Bradford, Pennsylvania, she and her parents were all born in Cartva, Hungary. Her native language was Slovish and her husband's was Italian. They lived next door to her parents. Her parents address lists Mike as being born in Copenza, Hungary and his wife as in Cartva, Hungary.

Notes:

Michael Kutchmire lived in Olean and Jamestown, N.Y. most of his adult life. He had three children. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad. (D-74) He lived in Olean, NY in 1928 when his sister died. He lived in Florida in Jan. of 1970 when he visited Bradford to be best man for his sister, Irene's renewal of their marriage vows (D-19).

He lived in Ashville, New York in Dec. of 1979 through 1982 according to newspaper obituaries when siblings died. (D-37, 74)

In his own obituary, it states that he was a resident of Eggleston Hill Road, Panama and that he died at the home of his granddaughter. This could be interpreted as occurring in Panama or Jamestown, NY where the obituary originated. He was 95 at the time of his death. (F:DOC)

Michael married Susie Celestia CLARK on 30 Aug 1920. Susie was born on 5 Mar 1903; died on 17 Apr 1972 in , Citrus, FL, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Sue attended Custer City Schools. At the time of her marriage, she lived in Custer City and John in Degolia, Pennsylvania She listed herself as age 18 with a birth date one year before her birth date is listed elsewhere. They honeymooned at his mother's house in Kushicaw, Pennsylvania. It was a large old country home. She remembers fondly the serenade their friends gave them that Saturday night from the railroad tracks, just outside her mother-in-law's home. They sang "Johnny is home". In the 1940 census, she is employed as a salesperson in a store. (D-10)

George worked at Case Cutlery in Bradford, PA when he met and married his first wife, Gladys Gilbert. They had one surviving daughter, Shirley Augustine. Two others were born dead and one daughter only lived 24 hours. They divorced and he remarried Marion Hicks in 1948. After her death in 1960 he married Dorothy Gould also of Olean, N.Y. (1965). They were divorced in 1980. He lived in Olean, N.Y. for the last 46 years of his life. He was a retired auto mechanic and radio repairman, as well as a retired master sergeant in the National Guard. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member and president of the Civil Defense Auxillary Police and a member of VFW Post 1619 and the American Legion Post in Olean. He died Nov. 6, 1982 in Olean General Hospital. (D-74, 99)

Susan's grandfather was a brother to Charles Bartoo named William Lawrence Bartoo born almost exactly 9 months apart.
