    Notes:

Since there are 2 Janos Bogdan's in the area, it appears that there are 2 families of Bogdans of similar peerage in Neviczke.

Family/Spouse: Anna VOVCSIK. Anna (daughter of Unknown VOVCSIK and Juliana VEGESA) was born about 1835; died after 1869 in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Unknown BOGDANUnknown BOGDAN Descendancy chart to this point (1.Unknown1) was born before 1834; died before 1869.

    Notes:

I'm estimating that he is at least the age of his wife. His 1st name was not given in the records as he was deceased. They had lived in household 55 with Janos Bogdan in Neviczke.

Family/Spouse: Maria NALYHO. Maria was born about 1833 in Hutte, Boros, UNG, Hungary; died after 1869 in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Anna lived in house 36 next door to house 35 that had Toder Dudik's family living there. Her likely sister Maria married a nephew of Toder.

    Notes:

He is a likely brother of Maria Bogdan by age and place of residence. There were only a few Bogdan's in Nevicke. He lived in house 42 in Nevicke. In house 55 there is a Janos Bogdan born in 1831 who is a likely cousin.

Family/Spouse: Julia RUSZUAH. Julia was born in 1844; died after 1869 in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  5. 6.  Andrej BOGDANAndrej BOGDAN Descendancy chart to this point (1.Unknown1) was born before 1844; and died.

    Notes:

I am assuming he is a brother to Maria because Bogdan's were extremely rare in Neviczke and he is having children at a similar time to Maria. He also names a daughter Maria. He was a witness to the baptism of Josef Pypyk on Mar. 23, 1857 in Neviczke. The baby sadly died 2 days later.

Family/Spouse: Yulianna KARBOVANETS. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Mary's maiden name listed in her daughter's first marriage application to Michael Cesario is Mary Budgon and in her second is Mary Smith. Smith was often a translation of a much different common name in the old country. However, in this case, I simply believe Mary said the name of a person was Smith when she didn't want to reveal the identity of a person. This is based on the fact that in her first marriage application she said her father's name was Mike Smith. (D-170) In records of this family from Neviczke, in what is now the Ukraine, this name was spelled Bogdan or Bogdoin. Maria and Joseph Dudik's first son Andras had his baptism witnessed by a Julianna Bogdoin. This could easily be a sister, mother or niece of this Maria Bogdan. Also, when Maria's daughter, Maria Vocsik, emmigrated to the U.S. in 1892, she traveled with a female relative of her mother's named (Baoko)? Bogdan, age 18, a likely sister or cousin. When an untranslated record occurs for a Bax.. Dudik, witnesses were a Joseph Popovitz and an a Borbola Bogdan (female).

Family/Spouse: Mihaly VOVCSIK. Mihaly (son of Unknown VOVCSIK and Juliana VEGESA) was born in 1842 in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died after 1920 in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Mary lists her birth year as 1867 in the 1900 U.S. Census for Elk Co., Pennsylvania. She is age 24 in 1892 when she emmigrated to this country in New York estimating her birth as 1867 or 1868. In her marriage licenses though, she lists her birth date as 1865. She lists her parents as Mike Wolfe and her mother as Maria Bugdon in one of her marriage applications to her second husband, Mike Cesario.

When her first husband died unexpectedly in 1907, it left her with young children whom were taken in by Father Baker's home while she found work. Their youngest daughter, Julia, was "adopted" out. Mary searched for this daughter for years but sadly passed before she found her.

The year after her husband died was surely a very difficult one for Mary even beyond these terrible losses. Her house burnt down and she was accused of murder. She went to trial where the charges were dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Even after this was over, she was still heartbroken and working to find a way to get her children back under her care. Her children, even in their old age, remembered how much they wanted to be back with her too. I can't imagine the pressures she was under.

Mary appears to have married her second husband, Mike Cesario, twice. The first time occurred on 6/5/1909 in Limestone, Cattaraugus Co., NY. They lived in Newton, PA at the time. They married again in 1922. No divorce has been found in between the two marriages. According to her daughter Josephine, it was because Michael had a wife back in Italy. After he heard of his first wife's death, they married the second time. It is not known whether Mary knew of Michael's other wife, when she married him in 1909.

In her 2nd marriage record, she lists her 1st husband's death date as Oct. 30, 1906. It turns out that he died in the night of Nov. 1st in 1907 according to the Johnsonburg Press where his name is misspelled as Dudek. (D-Doc)

Mary was Catholic, but was not accepted by the Catholic Church at the end of her days. She still was a very strong Christian who read the bible daily according to her son Tony. She was remembered by her children and her nieces and nephews for her kindness, support and care.

Marie married Gyorgy Josef DUDIK, * in 1886. Gyorgy (son of Andras DUDIK, * House 23 and Anna KALINCSAK) was born in May 1864 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died on 2 Nov 1907 in Clarion Junction, Johnsonburg, Elk, Pennsylvania, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

He emmigrated in 1890 and his wife in 1893. He stated that he migrated from Austria and arrived at Philadelphia on or about the 2nd day of December, 1893. (McKean Co., PA Alien Dockets, pg. 253, D-94.) It is unlikely that his surname was spelled as Wojcik by himself as that spelling appears to almost always be someone from Poland. He supposedly is in the 1900 census for Johnsonburg, PA under the name of John Wolfe. I have not been able to find he or his family in any of the census records. He was born in 1872 according to the Andersons. The Vovcsik's did have a son named Janos in 1869 according to their census records. If he died young and they renamed a second son Janos then he could have been born in 1872. I'm taking the simplest explanation though that he was the Janos who was born in 1869.

Janos married Julia PATRICK before 1896. Julia was born on 20 May 1875; died on 21 Sep 1926 in Kane Hospital, Johnsonburg, Elk, PA, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Julia (married) brought her niece Maria to her parents and entered into Ellis Island on Nov. 27, 1896. Their destination was listed as New York. Her place of origin is listed as M.L.A. Maria's was listed as Hungary. Juliana apparently returned to the old country and brought back 2 children, Josef and Maria in the U.S. in 1900 to meet up with her husband and their father, Joe Kacsik in Oil City, Pennsylvania.

Juliana married Josef KACSIK about 1894. Josef died in 1951 in Endicott, Broome, New York, United States; was buried in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Endicott, Broome, NY, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  8. 15.  Mihaly VOCSIK, Jr.Mihaly VOCSIK, Jr. Descendancy chart to this point (7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 15 Feb 1878 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died on 28 Dec 1968 in Ludlow, Mckean, PA, USA; was buried in Calvery Cemetery, Johnson City, Broome, New York, USA.

    Notes:

Mihaly Vocsik possibly entered New York in 1892 traveling with his friend and roommate on the trip, Joseph Dudik. Mihaly is listed at age 27 on this his first known voyage. (Our birthdate for him would make him 14 instead.) His sister, Maria Vocsik and Maria and Joseph's female relative, B. Bogdan were also on the trip in another cabin onboard. I assume they were watching out for them. According to a 1905 ships manifest, Mihaly had been in the US from 1902-1904 and was returning with his wife on the 1905 voyage.

Mike lived in Ludlow, McKean Co., PA and had a daughter Mary. His nephew, John Joseph Dudick would visit Uncle Mike with his kids and go to Ludlow Park. This would have been somewhere in the vicinity of the 1920s or early 1930s. (D-116) Mike listed his place of birth in his 1928 Citizenship application as Nevezke, Czechoslovakia meaning that by 1928, his place of birth was in the country of Czechoslovokia instead of Hungary like when he was born.

Mike (Mihaly) came to America sometime between 1902 and 1904 according to Ellis Island records on his 2nd return to this country. He might be the Mihaly Vilcsek who arrived on the Brandenburg from Breman on Apr. 9, 1903. He was listed at age 40 (so the age doesn't match), married, last residence of Oszhunya. He was going to stay with a friend in Kingstown, PA named Jedko Walaszke. He apparently returned for his wife Anna and they came over on Dec. 1, 1905 from Neovcke, Ungvar on the SS Savonia. Their listed destination was Ohio.

They returned to the old country by 1910. On Sep. 6, 1910, he returned by himself on the SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. He was going to meet his brother, John Vovcsik in Johnsonburg, PA. Sometime later that year, Anna joined him as their son John was born in Sheffield, PA in Feb. 1911. His wife returned to Neviczke to live for the rest of her life with Anna and John shortly after John was born.

He also is likely the Mike Vovcsik that went back for a visit in 1937 and returned to New York on Oct. 12 departing from the port of Cherbourg, France. In this record he stated he was married, of the correct age to be this Mike and was naturalized in Smithberg, PA in 1933. In this last record, he listed his residence as 219 Odell Ave., Endicott, NY. He had moved there around 1936.

Mihaly married Anna DUDIK on 10 Nov 1902 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). Anna (daughter of Andrej\Andras DUDIK and Maria VUXTA) was born on 26 Oct 1880 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died in in Of Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine). 9. 16.  Stephen (Steve) WELSHIKStephen (Steve) WELSHIK Descendancy chart to this point (7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born in 1884 in , , , Hungary; died in 1920.

    Notes:

This is the closest match I've found so far in Ellis Island emigration records. I'm not sure if this is a name for Steve in Hungarian or not: Walczik, Stanislaw, Ethnicity: Russia Date of arrival: March 07, 1892 40y, M, Ship: Dania, Port of Embarkation: Hamburg, Germany. He is likely the Stephen Wolfe who was born in Hungary in 1884 and lived in Luzerne, PA in the 1920 census. He was listed as married at the time, with both of his parents being born in Pennsylvania. There is also a Steve Wolfe living in Summit, Ohio married to an Annie. He was also born in 1884 in Hungary in the 1920 census. This could be the same person who lived in 2 different locations in the year 1920. (D-115)

  10. 17.  Veronica Ella VOVCSIKVeronica Ella VOVCSIK Descendancy chart to this point (7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born about 1884 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died on 31 Aug 1925 in Curwensville, Clearfield, PA, USA; was buried in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Endicott, Broome, NY, USA.

    Notes:

According to the 1920 census records for Mike Perilla, she was listed as his wife, Ella who emigrated in 1910. Mike, her husband, emigrated in 1908 previous to her. With this clue, I was able to find her entrance into this country on Oct. 5, 1910 through Ellis Island. Her place of residence is listed as Neviczke, (Ungvar) Hungary. She was 25 years of age, a female (transcribed with the name of Veron Perilla), married, embarking from Carnaro, Triest, Austria and arriving here on the Carpathia. Ungvar (District), Hungary was to become Uzhorod, Czechoslovakia and currently is named Uzhhorod in the Ukraine. She is listed as Hungarian by nationality and Slovak by race. She was 4' 10" tall with brown hair and blue eyes. Her father Mihaly Wocsik was a resident of Nevicske, Hungary in 1910.

She is in three immigration records. She left Neviczke and traveled to Port of Fiume in Yugoslavia where she took the ship called Pannonia to New York City arriving on Sep. 11, 1905. Her destination is listed as Elk County, Box 20 Arroyo, Pennsylvania. Her name is spelled Veorn (should have been translated as Veron) Vovcsik in the 1905 immigration record and she is listed at age 19. She was going to stay with Joseph Kacsik of Oil City, Pennsylvania. (D-222) Juliana, Joe Kacsik's wife, was a sister to Veron. Veronica named her youngest daughter after her sister Juliana. Veorn left the US in 1908 on the Carpathia Manifest and returned from Nevicske by way of Port of Fiume, Yugoslavia on the Carpathia which arrived in New York City on Oct. 5, 1910. This time her destination was to meet up with her husband in Limestone, New York.

    Notes:

We don't know if he ever emmigrated to America or when he died.

  12. 19.  George VOVCSIKGeorge VOVCSIK Descendancy chart to this point (7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 17 Jul 1890 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); was christened on 20 Jul 1890; died about 1923 in Of Coudersport, Potter, PA, USA.

    Notes:

Though not likely, he could belong to the following Ellis Island record if he was married to another woman before he married Anna: Gyorgy Volcsik from Hungary, arrived at Ellis on Aug. 15, 1895, age 35 years, married, on the Spree from Bremen, Germany. He would be from the right place and time to be this George. (D-202) According to his wife's 103rd birthday newspaper article in the Times Herald, his wife, Anna, was 37 at the time of his death with 7 children to raise alone, suggesting that he died around 1923. According to Ken Anderson, he had left his wife and children previously to his death in the 1930's and went to New York City. This is supported by the fact that a WWII draft registration card shows his living in the Bowery in New York city in 1942 and by the fact that she still lists herself as married in the 1940 census where she is the head of household.

I believe him to also be the George Vovcsik who registered for World War I. He was born in 1890 in Neviczke, Hungary where his father lived. If this is this George, he worked in a bar and lived at 39 Allen St., New York, New York. Max Obstrovsky was his employer at the Bar and Grille at 90 Bowery (St.) in New York. He is the George Dudick from Coudersport, PA who visited relative, (George) Joseph Dudick (his brother-in-law) of Bradford, in October of 1938 according to the Bradford Era.

George married Anna JURIK on 29 May 1910. Anna was born on 1 Oct 1886 in , , , Hungary; died on 17 Nov 1991 in Coudersport, Potter, PA, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Generation: 4

  1. 20.  Andras DUDIKAndras DUDIK Descendancy chart to this point (12.Marie3, 7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 1 Dec 1887 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); was christened on 2 Dec 1887 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died before 1900.

    Notes:

Andras is likely one of the 2 children that Joseph and Maria had that died according to the 1900 census which showed them with 7 living children and 2 whom had passed. In any case, he did not come to America with this family that we know of. Mihaly Vovcsick was the witness to his baptism which took place one day after his birth. Mihaly would likely have been his grandfather or his Uncle, Maria's brother.

  2. 21.  Mary DUDICKMary DUDICK Descendancy chart to this point (12.Marie3, 7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 7 May 1889 in , , , Austria-Hungary; died on 22 Oct 1957 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA, USA.

    Notes:

The 1900 census lists Mary as Marie, age 11 who was a naturalized citizen. (D-50) This would make her birthdate approximately 1889. However, no birth record can be found for her in Neviczke, Hungary at the time. She had 2 other siblings born there before and after this date that are listed in the records. Perhaps she was born in Budapest or at a relative's home outside of Neviczke. She is likely to be the Maria Dudik who emigrated from Hungary on Nov 27, 1896, age 7 on the ship Havel, from the port, Breman, Germany to Ellis Island, New York. This Maria was traveling with a possible Aunt, Julia Volsik, age 22, a married American citizen. The record lists her as a male, but Maria has an aunt married to John Volcik (her mother's brother) named Julie Volcsik. I therefore suspect that Julia's sex was simply mistranslated. (D-199)

There is another Mary Dudik coming over to the United States traveling with Veorn (Veronica) Voscvik arriving on the Pannonia from Nevicke in New York on Sep. 11, 1905. She was age 19, could read and write, nationality Hungary, race - Ruthenian. Mary's destination was her cousin, Anna (Uhiur) in New York City, New York that could be this Mary instead though she would be 4 years older than any records indicate in the United States. It is possible that she wasn't telling the truth about her age or that this Mary was instead a younger sister/niece of Joseph Dudick, my children's original immigrant.

In the 1920 census, Mary and her husband Daniel continued to live in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They had no children. She is listed as naturalized, though her husband wasn't. He was born in Pennsylvania, and she as well as her parents were listed as being born in Austria. Her native tongue was Slavik. She was 31 on her last birthday. Mary was not living at home in the 1930 census. She listed her nationality as Czech and her and her parents birth places as Czechoslovakia. She married at age 24 and her husband was age 25 according to this census. She could speak English, entered the country in 1922 and was listed as an alien or not naturalized. This immigration date is not likely to have been accurate. She was married in Allentown, PA in 1913/1914. Possibly it's the last date that she traveled to and from the old country. They had no children listed. This info and her place of birth in Austria Hungary by family tradition is not supported in her marriage certificate. In that she was age 25 when she married on May 10, 1915. She lists her birthplace as Bradford City, PA. Both of her parents are listed as being born in Austria. Her father, Joseph is deceased and her mother Mary is listed as "at home". Her residence was Allentown, Pennsylvania at the time on what looks like 1447 Hamilton St. Her birthplace would not have been Pennsylvania as earlier records state her to not have citizenship in this country yet.

Mary married Daniel SNYDER on 10 May 1915 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA, USA. Daniel was born about 1888 in Allentown, Lehigh, PA, USA; died after 1930 in Of Allentown, Lehigh, PA, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  3. 22.  Borbala DUDIKBorbala DUDIK Descendancy chart to this point (12.Marie3, 7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 12 Nov 1891 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine); died on 11 May 1892 in Neviczke, Ung, Ungvasi Jaros, Magyar (Now In Ukraine).

    Notes:

Borbala is the Hungarian version of what I'm assuming is the Slovakian version of Varvara and Borka.

  4. 23.  John Joseph DUDICK, Sr.John Joseph DUDICK, Sr. Descendancy chart to this point (12.Marie3, 7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 18 May 1894 in Johnsonburg, Elk, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 24 Jan 1978 in Bradford, Mckean, PA, USA; was buried about 27 Jan 1978 in Bridge View Cemetery, Mt. Jewett, Mckean, PA, USA.

    Notes:

John Joseph Dudick, Sr. was either born in Germany, Austria, Hungary or in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania. His marriage certificate, death certificate and social security records say Pennsylvania, but his son, John remembers him saying he was born in Germany. His birth record has not been able to be located, even though Elk Co., PA kept track of birth records from 1893 to 1905. He also lists his age differently in a couple of different forms. In his marriage record dated Dec. 29, 1919, he lists himself at age 25. His parents lived in Neviczke, Hungary for probably at least 3 generations, but came to America in 1892. If his 1894 birthdate is correct, he was likely born in Pennsylvania.

He supposedly lost his father when he was around 6 years of age from descendants' memories. However, according to this article in the Johnsonburg Press, dated January 3, 1908, he was 13 years old when his father died. "County Commissioner Thomas paid a visit to Father Baker's school in Buffalo last week and was much pleased with what he saw at the institution. He took there the thirteen year old son of Joe Dudack, the man who died suddenly at Johnsonburg some weeks ago, and left him. The lad is bright but has never attended school a day in his life. He was anxious to go to the Buffalo institution and Commissioner Thomas thinks it's the place for him. There are seven hundred boys in the school at the present time and they are not only educated, but also taught trades. It's a charitable institution and set up by Father Baker's unceasing efforts in behalf of homeless boys." He worked on the railroad as a young man and picked up quite a bit of Italian because of it. He was a soldier in World War I. He first enlisted May (1), 1917 as a Rig builder. His character was defined as "excellent". He is on a list of injured soldiers from the Pennsylvanians in the Indiana Evening Gazette on Saturday, Nov. 2, 1918. His rank was a private and he was from Kushequa, PA. He was honorably discharged from the 16th Infantry, Co. C, National Guard on Aug. 5, 1917. (D-131) He then apparently re-enlisted in the 112th Infantry, Company C and served in Le Mans, France from 1918-May 6, 1919. (D-132, 134) He was wounded in battle on July 18, 1918 and received the purple heart for gallant service. His son John has a large wide angle picture of him and the 112th in his home. (D:DOC, E) He had to fill out a World War II draft registration card, in which he verifies his birthdate, May 18, 1894 and place, Johnsonburg, PA, his wife's name, Sue, his address, 283 Congress St., Bradford, PA and his career as a fireman. He was 5 foot 7 inches tall, with brown hair, hazel eyes and light complexion.

In the 1930 census records for Bradford, McKean Co., PA, John was renting his home. It's contents were worth $35.00. He was age 36 and his wife was listed as age 28. They were married when he was 26 and she was 18. He lists his birth place as New York and his wife's as Pennsylvania. His parents were born in Italy (his stepfather and his spouse) and her parents were born in Austria. Children living in the family were Dorothy Irene, Donald, Evelyn, John and Edward. He was a fireman by trade. According to the Bradford Era, on Oct. 24, 1945, Private John J. Dudick of Congress St. was thrown a birthday party by his mother while on furlough. He had been trained in Las Vegas, Nevada and was expecting to be shipped to the Pacific. This is even more interesting as his birthday was in May. The only family member that I could tell was in attendance was brother, Ed Dudick. According to this same paper, his mother and her husband, Tony Cesario, visited them on Nov. 22, 1945. He and his wife attended the funeral of a cousin, Joseph Michalek, in Nanticoke in April of 1949. He was in the paper again when he fell down the stairs of his home at 15 Park St. and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance on Sep. 11, 1951. He is listed as receiving 26 Park St., in Bradford, PA on Aug. 31, 1954 in Smethport Deeds which was willed to them by neighbor, Albert A. Griffin. John and his wife never lived in this home, but continued to rent the home at 15 Park St. which they had lived in for much of their adult lives. (D-22) Before renting 15 Park St., they lived at 283 Congress St. in Bradford, Pennsylvania.

John Joseph Dudick, Jr. remembers both his parents as hard workers. His dad was a jack-of-all trades. He worked much of his life in the fire department as a firefighter and mechanic, doing all the necessary repairs on the fire fighting equipment. He had built a pumping truck from the ground up and was naturally proud of this accomplishment. He had several heart attacks, one of which forced him to retire from the fire department. In the Bradford Era on Apr. 12, 1976, he is listed as having received his 25 year membership for working in Sales at Witco Chemical Corporation. He was always a good provider for his family. For pleasure, he loved to fish. He would take his sons, fishing and hunting. His wife was a very attractive woman. It was always said that her children were well behaved. She liked her children to be well dressed and well mannered. She loved to collect pretty objects. By the end of her life her home was a wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-ceiling collection of old fashioned glassware, photographs and well loved objects. She was a born seamstress and did professional paper hanging. No job was too large to tackle. She did everything well.

John, Jr. remembers this about his family life. He says they always ate well, even during the depression. His father only took a belt to him once when he kept a friend out in the hills so long that his parents had gotten worried. He remembers fighting with his brothers, going hunting in the hills of Bradford often with his friends and building a radio receiver from odds and ends. He used it to listen in on his older brother and his girl friend while they would talk on the telephone. He felt he had a good childhood, "a damn good childhood with lots of fun." There was lots of snow in Bradford during winter months. Snow was enjoyed with ice skating, bob sledding, skiing, tobogganing and all other winter sports. He had a good time in the hills with his bicycle, model planes, soap box derbys, guns, and all the good things of youth.

John married Susan Irene KUTCHMIRE on 24 Jan 1920 in St. Bernard's Church, Bradford, Mckean, PA, USA. Susan (daughter of Mihaly \ Michael KACSMAR and Maria HRUSKOVITS) was born on 17 Jun 1902 in Ormsby, Mckean, PA, USA; was christened on 28 Jun 1902 in Bradford, Mckean, PA, USA; died on 20 Oct 1981 in Bradford, Mckean, PA, USA; was buried on 22 Oct 1981 in Bridge View Cemetery, Mt. Notes:

In Anna's marraige record, she is listed as being born in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania and living in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania in 1914. In Anna's obituary, it lists her surviving sisters as Marian of Burbank, CA, Josephine of Salamanca, NY (half-sister) and Veronica of Grand Haven, Michigan. We think Ella's real name was Veronica. (D-164)

Anna married Melvin W. MCELROY on 28 Oct 1914 in Mount Jewett, Mckean, Pennsylvania, USA. Melvin was born on 25 Feb 1885 in Emlenton, Venango, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 11 Apr 1967 in , , Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Veronica was her baptismal name. She is listed as a shoemaker when she marries John Lasko in 1917 going by the name of Ella Dudick. She is still using the name Ella in the 1920 census for Union Twp., Endicott, NY. She and her husband had a son John by this point in time. They could both read and write in English. Their native language was Slovak. Both their parents were born in Austria according to the 1920 and 1930 census records.

  7. 26.  George Joseph DUDICKGeorge Joseph DUDICK Descendancy chart to this point (12.Marie3, 7.Maria2, 1.Unknown1) was born on 24 Oct 1899 in Johnsonburg, Elk, Pennsylvania, USA; was christened on 28 Oct 1899 in Johnsonburg, Elk, Pennsylvania, USA; died on 7 Jul 1972 in Painted Post, Steuben, NY, USA; was buried on 10 Jul 1972 in Mt. Jewett, Mckean, PA, USA.

    Notes:

He was baptized with the name Georgium (in latin) and went by the name of Joe. After Joe's father's death, the children were sent to an orphanage while Mary went to work at a boarding house. Joe was adopted for a while by a family who thought he was German. When they discovered he wasn't, they neglected him and he ran back to the orphanage at St. Marys. As an adult, he worked as a laborer and carpenter. He was living in Hamlin, McKean Co., PA in the 1930 census, married and with 4 children. He was a fireman for the brickworks and living next to his stepbrother, Tony Cesario and cousin, John Perilla. He listed his parents birthplace as Czechoslovakia. He lived in Kushequa, Pennsylvania when his son George Joseph was honored in 1951 by becoming President of his Chical Engineering group in college. Joe retired as a employee of Kaul Clay Products. (D-45, 164) His obituary gives some incrongruos dates with those believed to be accurate by his son George. It gives his birth date as Oct. 22, 1899 in Dubois, PA, the son of George and Mary Wolfe Dudick. It says he married Grizelda James on Jan. 12, 1933. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church. The information was provided by Joes's youngest daughter, and George Joseph, Jr. clearly disagrees with the place of birth as provided by his sister.

His birth record, entered by a doctor that made many errors in submitting this families births, stated that Joseph Dudick was born Nov. 5, 1899 at Hill St. Extention, Johnsonburg, PA. His baptismal record, has a birth date of Oct. 24 with his baptism on Oct. 28, 1899. I'm taking this one as the accurate one because it was extremely close to the event and because of the other multiple errors in the birth records on this family. (D-164, 184, 191) As for his death, he was visiting his son, George, at Painted Post, NY when he suffered a heart attack and died. (D-191d)

George married Grizelda JAMES on 12 Jan 1923 in Olean, Cattararaugus, NY, USA. Grizelda was born on 2 Dec 1904 in Kushequa, , PA, USA; died on 6 Oct 1962; was buried after 6 Oct 1962 in Mt. Jewett, Mckean, PA, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

She is listed as Ella Dudick, b. Oct 20, 1901 in the Ridgway Twp., Elk Co, PA birth records which totally does not agree with her baptismal record. The doctor that submitted names and dates to the courthouse made extreme mistakes on every single entry for this family and it can't be taken as truth. The baptismal records have actually been recorded within a week of this families' birth dates, and seem accurate. Julie was taken in while she was in an orphanage after her father's death by the chief of police. Though not officially adopted, she was given the name Marian Gertrude by her caretakers. This was the name she was called as an adult. She and her mother tried desperately to connect again throughout their lives. When Marian finally found her lost family with the help of the Catholic church, her mother had already passed on. (D-164) She is most likely to be named after a close relative of her mother's, as Julia is the name of another person who emigrated from the same region that Mary's sister, Veronica is from with the same surname of Vovcsik.

    Notes:

He might be the Tony Cesario, b. 1912, who enlisted in World War II on Jun 4, 1942 in San Francisco, California. He was seperated without dependants at the time. He was in the hotel and restaurant business. He was living next to George J. Dudick's family in the 1930 census for Hamlin, McKean Co., Pennsylvania. John Parilla was living with him. He was listed as a laborer in the brickworks. George was listed as a fireman for the brickworks. In the 1940 census, he is the Anthony Cesario living in Mt. Jewett, McKean Co., PA with wife Gladys and children Patty Jean and Beverly Joan Cesario. He was working for the Park system and making 1372.00 a year which seemed higher than his neighbors.
