| 1. | George LESLIE, First Baron of Balquhain was born before 1310; died in 1351 in Balquhain, Aberdeen, Scotland; was buried in Churchyard of Logydurno, Balquhain, Scotland. Notes: In 1340, he received a royal grant for lands in Balquhain, Syde and Braco for his services in battle for Robert the Bruce and became the prognitor of the famous Leslie family in Scotland, Ireland, France, and Germany. He was given the title First Baron of Balquhain at that time. He had actually received the land in Balquhain from his father, but was given royal grant for it of higher rank in 1340. This was after Robert the Bruce had passed in 1329. Many of his descendants were named Sheriff-principal or chief magistrate in their home county of Aberdeen, titles only conferred upon the highest Barons and Earls at the time. | 2. | Hamelin LESLIE, Second Baron Of Balquhain  (1.George1) was born before 1338 in Of Balquhain, Scotland; and died. Notes: The Leslie clan traces back to the daughter of Duncan I (King of Scotland) who married "Bartholemew" - a nobleman from Hungary. A set of books that takes this line back to before Charlemagne is online - just google the title (Historical Records of the family of Leslie from 1067 to 1868-9). There are 3 volumes (Our Wm is in Vol III). It was written by Col Leslie who was about the 27th Baron of Balquhain, published in 1869, the year he died. Notes: He was knighted at the coronation ceremony for James I on Apr. 1, 1424. He worked for the Queen at points in his life and also held a seat in Parliment. He was often in court records.
