    Notes:

    Likely relatives of Frances are Abraham Potter who sold 50 acres to a Jn. Stewart in Sussex, Delaware in 1724. He was the son of Abraham Sr. Potter whose mother, Jane, named him in her will dated 1703 and probated in 1704. Jane also named friend, Frances Gum in her will so this tells us Frances is not the daughter of Abraham and Jane, but could still be a relative. There is a James Potter who purchased land from Robert Porter that was located on the west side of Delaware bay and on the North side of Little Bush in Sussex, Delaware on May 9, 1702. Both Robert Porter and James Potter were of Kent, Province of Pennsylvania at the time that could be Frances' father or brother also.

    Notes:

    I am theorizing that he is a brother to Francis Potter. He has the same surname and lives in the same area as Frances. He sold 50 acres to John Stewart in Sussex Co., Delaware in 1724. Further proof, is that Jane Potter in her will bequeaths gifts to her unamed son and two possible son-in-laws, one of which is known to daughter Francis' husband.

    Notes:

    John Gum of Augusta Co., VA sold land to Jacob Gum, tanner, of Sussex Co., Delaware for 20 lbs in 1767 where Jacob lived in Broadkill Hundred called Hatfield Wood. Part of this land was sold by Moulson to Roger Gum, grandfather of John Gum and great grandfather of Jacob Gum. Roger Gum by will gave his land to son John Gum who died intestate giving the land to several of his children, one of which was John.

    Notes:

    A handmade booklet on this generation of Tharps says that Mary was declared by jury as insane in 1815. This would have been the term used at the time for dementia. Son, Zadock, was named her guardian. (CL-317a) She died shortly after as her son Zadock was the administrator for her estate which he filed on May 28, 1816. The estate papers administered on May 28, 1816 lists her and William's children as William, Joseph, Zedic, Isaac, Esther, Armelia Calhoon, Unica, Kezziah, and Ann. It names one grandson Jesse who was being cared for by Isaac (Zaus).

    She is listed in her father's deed transaction in Sussex, Delaware in 1767 under her married name proving that she is a Ponder instead of a Harris as is oft printed.
