  1. 2.  Nichole D'AUBIGNYNichole D'AUBIGNY Descendancy chart to this point (1.Maud1) died before 1 Dec 1283.

    Notes:

It is conjecture on my part that the William D'Aubigny, Earl of Arundel that listed as her father in "The Complete Peerage", is the William D'Aubigny that I have listed here. His wife was much young than him and their children could easily have been born in the late 1100's as required for a fit to this generation. Nichole was the 3rd daughter of William and the sister to his son Hugh. They both were coheirs of William's estate. (F-644) These lands were then divided amongst her 4 heirs on Dec 1, 1283. They included the manor of Olney, Bucks, Barrow-on-Soar, co. Leicester, and Chipping Campden, co. Gloucester.

Family/Spouse: Roger DE SOMERY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Maud and her first husband received lands at Campden from her mother's estate. They sold these lands about 1280. She married again without a license bef Apr 26, 1286 when she was fined for the same. (F-644)

Maud married William DE BIFELD about 1286. William died on 18 May 1302. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Family/Spouse: Henry DE ERDINGTON. Henry (son of Giles DE ERDINGTON and Nicole) was born in 1236 in Of Erdington, Shawbury, Corfe Mullen; died before 26 Mar 1282. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 5.  Giles DE ERDINGTONGiles DE ERDINGTON Descendancy chart to this point (4.Maud3, 2.Nichole2, 1.Maud1) was born about 1272; died on 25 Apr 1347.

    Notes:

I am guessing that this is the Giles that died in 1347 on St. Mark's Day. If that is not true, then it likely belongs to a son of Giles. On that day, the following charters were made by Giles in the words of James Lawler: "1) nephew William son of John de GRAFTON, for rent 20' a property for life at his death to remand to Henry elder son of said Giles deceased, and 2) to his younger son John for a yearly rent of 20 s also to remand at his death to eldest son Henry and brother to said John - revision in each case to successive tail general to him and his right heirs -- (property was in in Withybrook Warwickshire. in both cases)"

  2. 6.  Henry DE ERDINGTONHenry DE ERDINGTON Descendancy chart to this point (4.Maud3, 2.Nichole2, 1.Maud1) was born about 1274; died after 1341.

    Notes:

Henry was the second son of Sir Henry de Erdington and Maud, 4th daughter of Sir Roger de Somery. His lineage goes back through noble lines. When I find this Henry with a daughter Matilda, CD-100 and F-345 will support his ancestry. It does state that he married before June 1315 Joan, d. of Sir Thomas de Wolvey of Co. Warwick. According to Hal Buckley, this 1315 date is the date that they are listed as a married couple, but their marriage took place at least 1300 or earlier from the known births of their children. (F-441-442) Henry, b. 1274, held lands in Aston Parish, Erdington, co. Warwick, Shawbury, Salop Corfe Mullen, Dorset, Barrow-on-Soar co. Leicester and Olney, Bucks. He was the second son of Henry De Erdington and became his father's heir when his older brother died young, a minor in the King's ward. "The King took his homage", and he is noted in the records as having livery of his father's lands on July 21 1295. He then was given livery of this mother's lands on July 9, 1302 after the death of her 2nd husband, Sir William De Bifeld. He is listed as age 24 years and more in 1302 when his stepfather dies. He is listed as the heir and son of Henry and Maud De Erdington in this document. He was knighted by the Prince of Wales on May 22, 1306 at Westminster. He was given the title "Knight of the Shire for co. Leicester" in 1309. He was in the military service between May 1297 and July 28, 1317. He was a member of council in May 1324. He was in Parliament on Jan 22, 1335/6 where by writ he was bestowed the title of "Lord Erdington".

Henry married Joan De Wolvey before 1801. Joan (daughter of Thomas DE WOLVEY and Alice) was born est 1278; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    1. 7. Giles DE ERDINGTON  Descendancy chart to this point was born in 1291 in Shawbury, Sallop; died after 10 Jun 1359.
    2. 8. Matilda DE ERDINGTON  Descendancy chart to this point was born about 1297 in Of Erdington, Shawbury, Corfe Mullen; and died.
