  1. 1.  Isabella ANGOULEMEIsabella ANGOULEME was born in 1188 in Angouleme, Chrnt, , FRA; died on 31 May 1246 in Fonteurault, Maine-Et-Loire, FRA.

    Notes:

Isabelle married Hugh de Lusignan four years after the death of her husband. She left her youngest daughter, Eleanor, back in England to be raised by her half-sister Joan who was King John and Clementia's daughter. She probably left all of her children by King John in England, but I need to verify this. She had nine more children by Hugh de Lusignan, Count of La Marche: Hugh, Guy, Geoffrey, William, Aymer, Isabella, Alice, Margaret and Agatha.

Isabella married John LACKLAND, King Of England on 24 Aug 1200 in Bordeaux, Grnd, , FRA. John (son of Henry II "Curtmantle", King Of England and Eleanor OF AQUITAINE) was born on 24 Dec 1166 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, ENG; died on 19 Oct 1216 in Newark Castle, Nottingham, ENG; was buried about 22 Oct 1216 in Worcester Cathedral, , ENG. 1. 2.  Henry III KING OF ENGLANDHenry III KING OF ENGLAND Descendancy chart to this point (1.Isabella1) was born on 10 Oct 1207 in Winchester, Hampshire, ENG; died on 16 Nov 1272 in London, Middlesex, ENG.

    Notes:

Henry was crowned when he was just nine in 1216, but he did not actually rule until he came of age in 1227. He brought many foreign nobles to his court which infuriated his barons. They forced him to give them rule. Henry later tried fighting back but was captured in the Battle of Lewes in 1264. His son Edward won back the rule by killing England's temporary leader, Simon de Montfort. Edward then ruled during the rest of his father's lifetime. There is some discrepancy in Henry's birth. It is listed as 1206 on page 585 of Harry's book and 1207 on p. 567. (C-437, p. 585) I am concurring with 1207 as it is listed that way in World Book Encyclopedia. He was murdered the same year, but several months after his brother Richard I.

His will is as follows: "I, Henry, by the grace of God King of England and Lord of Ireland, Duke of Normandy, Acquitaine, and Earl of Anjou, on the Tuesday next after the feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul, in the year of grace 1253, at Suthwyk, proposing to go into Gascony, make my will in form following. I will that my body be buried at the Church of the Blessed Edward at Westminster, there being no impediment, having formerly appointed my body to be buried in the New Temple of London. I commit the guardianship of Edward my eldest son and heir, and of my other children, and of my Kingdom of England, and of all my other lands of Wales and Ireland, and Gascony, to my illustrious Queen Eleanor, until they arrive at full age. Also, I bequeath the cross which the Countess of Kent gave me, to the small altar of the aforesaid Church of Edward of Westminster, and I appoint my aforesaid Queen; Boniface Archbishop of Canterbury; Aymer, elect of Winchester; and Richard Earl of Cornwall, my brothers; Petri de Lebaudia, John Maunsell, "Praepositi Beverlye," Peter Chiceporm, Archdeacon of Wales, John Prior of Newburgh, my Chaplains; John de Gray, my Steward; and Henry de Wengham, my Secretary, my executors."

Henry married Eleanor DE PROVENCE on 14 Jan 1237. Eleanor (daughter of Raymond Berenger COUNT OF PROVENCE) was born about 1222; died in 1291. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Children:
    1. 7. Edward I "Longshanks", King Of England  Descendancy chart to this point was born on 17 Jun 1239 in Westminster Palace, Westminster, , England; died on 7 Jul 1307 in Burgh-On-The-Sands.
    2. 8. Alexander III KING OF SCOTS  Descendancy chart to this point was born in 1241; died in 1286.
    3. 9. Edmund PLANTAGENET, *  Descendancy chart to this point was born in 1245; died in 1296.
    4. 10. Beatrice D.Of HENRY III  Descendancy chart to this point

  2. 3.  Richard PLANTAGENET, Earl Of CornwallRichard PLANTAGENET, Earl Of Cornwall Descendancy chart to this point (1.Isabella1) was born on 5 Jan 1209; died on 2 Apr 1272 in Berkhampstead Castle, Herts, ENG.

    Notes:

He was also crowned King of the Romans in 1256. He was married three times. His first was to a commoner and their children weren't considered legitimate heirs. His son by his 2nd wife, Sanchia, named Edmund (his 2nd son named Edmund) was considered the rightful heir. Richard was murdered the same year as his brother, Henry III, but several months before him. The 3 sons from his commoner wife feuded with step-brother Edmund from Richard's second marriage (Known at the Fued of the Four Brothers). The new king, Edward I, resolved the dispute by changing the legitimate Edmund (Sanchia's son) to Earl of Cornwell instead of Cornwall. The sons of Richard's commoner marriage, Edmund, Richard and Walter lost their right to inherit the Earldom from this ruling. Centuries later, Queen Victoria dissolved the Earldom of Corwell/Cornwall in 1872 by the only known survivor, Martin Nelson Conrwell who had emigrated to Chicago, Illinois. This was witnessed by his children, Galen and Emily Jane Cornwell. I assume that he lost his title because he and his children and grandchildren all lived in the United States.

The 1871 Chicago fire had left this family impoverished to boot. This branch dispersed after these events. The point of this is that Cornwells and Cornwalls do descend from King Henry II and often through King Richard, the Lionhearted. Both names were used in this last branch that held the Earldom from Chicago, Illinois. In a proper sense, their name should have been spelled Cornwell as that was the line of their inheritance. (C-330, 433, 469)

  4. 5.  Isabelle OF ENGLANDIsabelle OF ENGLAND Descendancy chart to this point (1.Isabella1) was born in 1214; died in 1241.

    Notes:

After marrying Frederick, Roman Emperor, she had a very sequestered life. Her husband totally controlled her and limited her access to family and friends. She died in childbirth at the young age of 27, a wealthy woman in a guilded cage. She had born four children in six years.

Isabelle married Frederick II ROMAN EMPEROR in 1235. Frederick was born in 1194; died in 1250. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  5. 6.  Eleanor (Nell) OF ENGLANDEleanor (Nell) OF ENGLAND Descendancy chart to this point (1.Isabella1) was born in 1215; died in 1275.

    Notes:

According to a fictionalized account, "Falls the Shadow", Eleanor was betrothed to William Marshall at a very young age for political and monetary reasons. As most all royal marriages occurred in this way, it was perfectly normal. Her marriage to William ended when she was only 15 at her husbands death. She was then convinced by a very close caretaker to take the oath of fidelity from the Pope. This gave her many of the vows of a nun. She never fit well into this as she was a very beautiful blond haired women who enjoyed the company of men. Though she religiously upheld her vows, she fell hopelessly in love with Simon de Monfert after reaching the age of adulthood. They married secretly with the forced assistance of her brother, King Henry. Simon then convinced the Pope with monetary gifts to rescind his wife's vow of Abstinence. This was to say a very scandalous set of circumstances. Simon de Montfert was well below Eleanor's social status to add to boot. This is a love conquers all theme in the novel "Falls the Shadow."

Eleanor married William, Earl Of Pembroke MARSHAL before 1230. William, died in 1231. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Eleanor married Sunon (Simon) DE MONTFORT, Earl Of Lancaster on 7 Jan 1238 in London, Middlesex, ENG. Sunon was born in 1209; died in 1265. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  1. 7.  Edward I "Longshanks", King Of EnglandEdward I "Longshanks", King Of England Descendancy chart to this point (2.Henry2, 1.Isabella1) was born on 17 Jun 1239 in Westminster Palace, Westminster, , England; died on 7 Jul 1307 in Burgh-On-The-Sands.

    Notes:

Edward was a member of the Royal House of Anjou or Plantagenet. He succeeded his father in 1272. He went to war against the Welsh in 1277 and subdued them by 1283 bringing Wales under English rule. He devoted the rest of his reign to conquering Scotland. Although he temporarily succeeded, he died while on his way to subdue their new king. He gave the world many new models. He established a parliament that had representatives from the nobility, church and common folk. He restricted the rights of the king to tax and make law without the consent of Parliament. He tryed to tear down the Feudal system giving direction to the modern world. (Wld. Bk, c1988, v.6, p.110)

He had 16 children by his first wife and 3 by his second. His will is as follows: "In the name, We, Edward, eldest son of the noble King of England, make our Will the Saturday next after Pentecost, in the year of our Lord 1272. First, we bequeath our soul to God, to our Lady, and to all the Saints; and our body to be buried where our executors, that is to say, Sir John de Bretagne, Sir William de Valence, Sir Roger de Clifford, Sir Payse de Chautros, Sir Robert de Tiletot, Sir Otes de Graundison, Robert Burnett, and Anthony Bek, shall appoint; who are also to hold the profits of all our lands in England, Ireland, and Gascony, until our children become of age. And if it should so happen (which God forbid!) that our Lord the King, our father, die whilst our children be under age, we will that the realm of England, and all other lands which should descend to our children, remain in the hands of our executors before named, and also in those of our dear father the Archbishop of York, and Sir Rog. and other great men of the kingdom, until they become of full age. And for the dowry of our dear wife Eleanor. In testimony of which we have placed our seal to this Will, having requested John Archbishop of Sur, and Vicar of the Holy Church of Jerusalem, and the honorable fathers, Frere Hugh Revel, Master of the Hospital, and Frere Thomas Brerard, Master of the Temple, likewise to place their seals in witness hereof. Dated at Acre, the Saturday before named, the 18th June, in the year of the reign of the King our Father the 55th."

    Notes:

Edward of Caernarvon was the first English Prince of Wales in 1301. He succeeded his father to the throne in 1307. He was not competent as a ruler, losing Scotland to it's own independence in 1314. Parliament forced him to give up the throne in 1327.

Edward II was murdered in Berkeley Castle where he was being held prisoner soon after. His murder is dramatically portrayed in Marlowe's play, Edward II. (Wld. Bk., c1988, v. 6, p. 110.)

His biography that follows is from http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/page65.asp."EDWARD II (r. 1307-1327) Edward II had few of the qualities that made a successful medieval king. Edward surrounded himself with favorites (the best known being a Gascon, Piers Gaveston), and the barons, feeling excluded from power, rebelled. Throughout his reign, different baronial groups struggled to gain power and control the King. The nobles' ordinances of 1311, which attempted to limit royal control of finance and appointments, were counteracted by Edward. Large debts (many inherited) and the Scots' victory at Bannockburn by Robert the Bruce in 1314 made Edward more unpopular. Edward's victory in a civil war (1321-2) and such measures as the 1326 ordinance (a protectionist measure which set up compulsory markets or staples in 14 English, Welsh and Irish towns for the wool trade) did not lead to any compromise between the King and the nobles. Finally, in 1326, Edward's wife, Isabella of France, led an invasion against her husband. In 1327 Edward was made to renounce the throne in favor of his son Edward (the first time that an anointed king of England had been dethroned since Ethelred in 1013). Edward II was later murdered at Berkeley Castle."
