    Notes:

    Elizabeth's birth date is truly unknown. From her marriage date, Anita Fiedler estimates her birth date as between 1652 and 1658. If this is true, her parents married at a much younger date than currently listed in most 2nd hand sources. (C-1653) Elizabeth is mentioned in her Mother's will as the wife of Thomas Plummer. Her father's will only included the word daughters, without naming them. Her stepfather, George Yate's will mentions her too.

    Elizabeth married Thomas PLUMMER about 1678. Thomas was born about 1634 in Ringmer, Essex, ENG; was christened in Oct 1634 in St. Botolph Without Aldgate, London, ENG; died after 12 Jul 1694 in , Anne Arundel, MD, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    Susannah is listed as the third daughter, wife of Francis Swanson, in her father's will. (C-575) It is highly likely she married quite young, as her husband inherited his father's land in 1683, being a likely time thereafter for their marriage. One of their daughters was married by 1706, meaning that they would highly likely have been married before 1693. (C-1659) The land that Susannah inherited from her father passed down to Susannah and Francis Swanson's daughter Susannah. Daughter Susannah Swanson and her husband James Ward then sold it to George Wells. George Wells later became Susannah Swanson's lover and 2nd husband.

    Susannah married Francis SWANSTON, Jr. before 1693. Francis (son of Francis SWANSTON and Isabella UNKNOWN) was born about 1674 in , Calvert, MD, USA; died about 1719. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

    He and his family removed to Prince George's Co. on Mar. 6, 1694. He purchased 100 acres of "Swanson's Lott" per that date. He still owned this property at the time of his death. His wife, Elizabeth, was indicted in March 1698 for sending Jonathan Brayn and Matthew Cooper to Thomas Well's plantation to steal onions, cabbage and bacon. She was acquitted by trial on June 27, 1699. They had twelve children. (C-575)

    Notes:

    Even though there has been no document found proving the parentage of Margaret Swanson, her parents must be Francis Swanson, Jr. and Susannah Plummer. "Swanson's lot" where they lived adjoined the Wells land. There was no other Swanson family in Maryland at the time. (C-575, p.53) CD-ROM 102 gives her an alternate birth date of about 1692 in Md. (C-586) She may or may not be the mother of Rachel Wells. If Rachel Wells birth date and Margaret's marriage to Joseph Wells is as stated then she is not the mother of Rachel Wells. Controversy on the dates leaves this parentage in question.

    Margaret married Joseph WELLS on 11 Apr 1721 in All Hallows Episcopal, Anne Arundel, MD, USA.     He was received into Quaker membership on April 25, 1748 at the Monocacy Monthly Meeting. He and his wife got a certificate to remove to Carver's Creek Monthly Meeting in North Carolina. He received a gift of land from his father in Orange Co., NC in 1752 and a grant from Lord Granville on Nov. 1, 1755. This later purchase was in tract 11. It is referred to here: "Joseph Welts, 513 acres, (in 1762?)." He sold most of it off in parcels in the following transactions. "Joseph Wells, 208 acres, 6 Jun, 1763; see ODB2/422 to Nathan Wells; William Marshall's line; N/S Cane Ck; crossing creek; part of 2 tracts HEM 6/7/1765 & 4/16/1760.
