    Notes:

    Edward was the 5th Lord Dudley. He apparently fathered children at an early age, as he was grandfathered by the time he was 35 years old. He had 11 children by his mistress, Elizabeth Tomlinson. Mistresses were common in those days, as marriages were arranged to maintain a family's power. He actually had his first child by her the year before he was married to Theodosia and had his first legitimate son. Theodosia moved to London by the year 1690 according to first hand research done by Lynn van Rooijin McCullough. There is a record that states that Elizabeth went to live with Sutton and it would appear likely that she helped raise his children, her children and his grandson Ward. Elizabeth Tomlinson also remembers Lord Dudley's children by Theodosia in her will.

    According to a 1637 court case, Robert Dudley (second son after brother Edward died young) brought suit to procure land that was being abused by his younger brother Dudd Dudley. According to him, it had legally been given to his deceased brother Edward, a minor. It was in the care of Edward's mother, Elizabeth Tomlinson till Edward reached his majority. After Edward died young and Elizabeth passed also, Edward's land was suppose to go to both Robert and Dud Duddley but had been abused by his brother Dud Duddley who also obtained the monies from it's goods and destruction. Robert files a request to have the land put in his name instead as the eldest living son of Elizabeth Tomlinson and Lord Dudley and to be absolved of Dud Duddley's debt (that history shows us Dudd built up in his business practices. He also He did not file this request until seven years after his mother's death. It obviously was a long held grudge.

    Here is a partial transcription of the very difficult to read 1637 document involving Robert Dudley as he tries to procure land that had gone to his brother Dudd Dudley. According to him, it had legally been given to his deceased brother Edward, a minor. It was in the care of Elizabeth Tomlinson till Edward reached his majority.     He was in the Herald's visitation on Apr 10, 1663 where he listed his parents as Elizabeth Tomlinson (d. of William Tomlinson) and Edward, Lord Dudley. He listed his 3 brothers (2 died young), and seven sisters (one died young). It's exact title was "The Dugdale Visitation of Staffordshire 1663-4."
