3. | ![]() ![]() Notes: When George marries Hannah in 1734, his father, Abraham is listed as "late of Cecil County in Maryland but now (living) on the North side of Overton in the Colony of Virginia." His parents and the following siblings attended his wedding. Mary, Lydia, and Isaac Hollingsworth, plus probable spouses named Lydia, Mary and Mary Hollingsworth. Other close relatives in the right hand column were Isaac and Mary Parkins, Esther Harrison, Elizabeth Rerpo?, and Josiah Calvert. No Mccoys were amongst the guest list. George Hollingsworth was appointed Overseer of the road from Littlers to Hollingsworth's Mill in the Orange Co., VA Road Orders, Aug. 26, 1742. A George was listed in the Rent Rolls for Frederick Co., VA in 1759 and 1764 that is likely to be him. George was granted 350 acres of land in Craven Co., NC on a branch of Little River called Mudlick Creek on Feb. 3, 1767. He and his wife, "Jean", sold 155 acres of it to John Williams on July 1772. Witnesses were Joseph Hollingsworth, Quaker, George and James Hollingsworth (his sons). It also states that George gave some of his original land grant to son Joseph. Joseph gave it to David Hollingsworth. David sold it to James Burnside on Sept. 15, 1813-Jan. 1814. (C-2279) George married Hannah MCCOY on 19 Dec 1734 in , Frederick, VA. (C-610, 1546) He moved from Virginia to South Carolina in 1767. (C-265) He apparently purchased 100 acres in Craven Co. on the waters of the Little River shortly before marrying on Sept. 29, 1772. His land was bounded by Abraham Hollingsworth. (C-947) According to Eli Jay, he was the leader of the Quaker movement to Ohio in 1804. (C-1546) In any case, he and his family got a certificate to move to Miami MM, Oh on Aug. 8, 1805. (C-106) They had sold their land of 100 plus acres in Newberry Co., SC to Samuel Cothran on July 12 of that same year. (C-897) Isaac married Susanna WRIGHT on 12 Dec 1771 in Bush River M.M., Newberry, SC, USA. Susanna (daughter of John C. WRIGHT, * and Rachel WELLS, Minister) was born on 16 Apr 1755 in , Orange, NC; died on 31 Jul 1830 in West Milton, Miami, OH, USA; was buried in West Branch Quaker Burial Grounds, Union Twp., Miami, OH, USA. He is in the 1790 census with these children, his second wife and two more children he had had with Sarah Wright. A James & family moved to Miami MM, OH and got a certificate from Bush River MM, SC on Aug. 8, 1805. He is listed in the 1810 and 1816 tax records for Miami Co., Ohio. According to Hinshaw, this would be the James that moved with his brother's Isaac, George and Nathan who moved to Ohio with descendants going to Indiana and Iowa. 16. | ![]() ![]() Notes: This Henry is likely the Henry Hollingsworth in Duplin Co., NC records for 1783 and in Sampson Co., NC in 1784. In the 1820 census for Adams Twp., Darke Co., Ohio, Henry lists himself as over 45. There is a female under age 10, one from 10-16, one from 16-18, and one from 26-45. He was engaged in agriculture. (C-130) Henry and Sarah deeded 150 acres to Isaac, his probable son in Darke Co., Ohio on Aug. 24, 1823. (C-125) His estate was probated the next year in 1824 in Darke Co., Ohio, Ib2, p. 43, fbh.
