1. | ![]() Notes: This Moses William Coppock is listed with this information in a published book whose reference I can't find currently and multiple descendants have had his name, his wife and his children passed down to them with their family history. Roberta Coppock Keller got this information from her grandmother's written notes on the family. Her grandfather was the President of the Indianapolis organization of the Coate Coppock Heirs. According to them this Moses William, wife Martha, sons Benjamin and James are the Coppocks who originally helped purchase the land from the Cherokee Indians and then lease it out for $1.00 an acre in 1816. It is not known for sure if this Moses William and his wife Martha were living in 1816, though they'd be in their late 70's and early 80's at this point in time. It is also not known whether or not the Coppock Coppock land lease was real or fraudulent as is oft stated. Moses married Martha SCARR on 3 Jul 1758. Martha was born on 18 Sep 1739; died after 23 Jul 1816. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. | ![]() ![]() Notes: Benjamin was born on Oct. 30, 1772 in Brighanter, TN according to descendant Charles Freemont Coppock, b. 1898. However, this date is the same date of Benjamin who was born to Joseph and Jane Coppock in Bush River MM records and is therefore, likely a mix-up. Benjamin was in the 1800 Newberry, SC census as a slave owner. He is probably the Benjamin who emigrated with James, John and Samuel Coppock to Miami Co., OH according to "The Annals of Newberry". (C-296, 2144) Family/Spouse: Unknown. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

4. | ![]() ![]() Notes: There is a Mary Coppock who married a Jehu Inman in Newberry, SC that might be this Mary Coppock. If so, she would likely have been born in 1775 or after as Jehu was born in 1775. Family/Spouse: William MICHENER. William was born on 18 Mar 1749; died on 8 Jan 1799. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart] |
5. | ![]() ![]() Notes: There is a James Coppock who was born circa 1759 and died 1838 according to his gravestone in Frederick Cemetery, Miami Co., OH who might be this James Coppock. The info is from the Miami Valley Index on the Internet sourced as Cemetery#, page 0601. The Annals of Newberry state that James, John, Benjamin and Samuel Coppock migrated to Miami Co., OH from Newberry. |

10. | ![]() ![]() Notes: When Joseph's first cousin, Nathan, died at a relatively young age in 1843, he was the administrator of Nathan's will in South Carolina. (C-2144) This Joseph is possibly in the 1800 Newberry Census records between the age of 16 and 26 with a wife of the same age and two sons under age ten. (C-931) In the 1810 Newberry census, he might be the Joseph who had 2 sons under age 10, 1 male age 16 to 26 and himself from 26 to 45. Females included 3 females under age 10, 1 female age 10 to 16 and a wife his own age. (C-2307) |
11. | ![]() ![]() Notes: He was in the census records for Newberry Twp., Miami Co., OH in 1830 and 1835. He had a son, Nathan Jr., who was born about 1834 in Covington, Miami Co., OH meaning that he likely would have married before that point and lived in that area. His first cousin, Joseph, was the administrator of his will in 1843. Land of his was sold by his administrator in 1844. (C-2144) Family/Spouse: Bulah May WATERS.
