  He is the person / Saint who is attributed as having gotten permssion from Pontius Pilot to take down the body of Jesus from the cross and prepare it for burial. According to one legend, he trained Jesus as a boy in the science of making tin. A further embellishment of this story is that he was the Uncle of Jesus and Mary was his sister. This has not been proven. The trees I'm finding suggest he is the Uncle of Jesus' mother instead. (Wikitree)
