• Notes

  Elizabeth is listed as the daughter of Robert Grazebrook in several secondhand sources. Robert was fairly wealthy and was close to being accepted as a landed gentry. He names his four sons and three unmarried daughters, the first nameder being Elizabeth, in his will dated Dec. 2, 1569. It was proved at Lichfield on July 31, 1570. However, it is theorized by Col. Hansen, that our Elizabeth is not the Elizabeth who is the daughter of Robert. She would have been from a different social class than her husband, Thomas Mason. They lived 4 parishes apart and were not likely to have occasion to meet. Lastly, she would have been the eldest daughter, but have been born easily 20 years after the second son of Robert above. There are two many incongruities to believe fully that her father was Robert. (C-1364) Another possibility is that she is the daughter of either John and or George Greasebrocke who were buried in Mar. of 1597 at St. Edmund's Parish Register in Worcester, England.
