Birth: 1791 Ohio County West Virginia, USA Death: Apr., 1836 Nelsonville Athens County Ohio, USA There is no record of Jonathan Samson being buried here however there is a probate record that shows he died at Nelsonville Oh before the 20 April 1836. This cemetery or someplace on the property he owned is his most likely place of burial. In the 1940s the clerk of courts at Clarksbirg W Va named Guy Tetrick handed out sheets requesting family information . On those sheets Harvey George Sampson's sons stated that Harvey's dad was Jonathan Samson that died at Nelsonville Ohio and his mother was Margaret Curbey ( may be Kirby or Kerby) daughter of A. Curbey. After Jonathan died there is a marriage record in Athens Ohio where Mrs Margaret Samson married Obadiah Gardner on Oct 1, 1837. They lived in Homer twp. which was given to Morgan Co when it was created. I have not been able to find out what happened to Obadiah and Margaret. The 1830 census in Athens shows that Jonathan had 2 daughters under 15 years, 1 daughter under 10 years and two sons under 5 years, one of which would have been Harvey George Sampson.
