  He is listed as the son of James Calhoun (Jr.) and his wife Sarah in most family trees even though he and his possible brother James were living 3 and 4 homes away from peer, Samuel Calhoun. His bondsman for his marriage was Harmon Harris, the father of neither the bride or groom. It's usually the father of the bride that is the bondsman so this indicates her father was deceased. He was deeded land by Samuel Calhoun in 1835 suggesting that he is the son of Samuel. However, Samuel's younger possible sons, Allen and then Enoch got deeded land 2 years after Moses, so maybe Moses is a nephew of Samuel instead. He moved to Rockingham, NC during the 1840 census and then moved back to Guilford, NC. If he is the son of James Calhoon Jr. and Sarah, then his Uncle Samuel is the likely father of William C. and Obidiah C.
