Notes

She was just 18 when she married 40 year old David Miles Coats. She was left with 5 small children when he died after which she applied for a pension. She married about 11 years later to Thomas Black. The marriage didn't work and theyivorced and moved to Lawrence, Michigan. Her last husband was a good man and kind to her, but when he died, she was left in poverty, aged and nearly blind. She died while living with her son, Richard, in Monticello, Indiana. (C-2383)
