  He settled in Bethel, Ohio in 1805. This farm was sold in 1817 to the grandfather of President Grant named John Simpson. In fact, this Page Coate family had interesting ties to President Grant. Page ran a tannery 15 miles south at Pt.ant, Ohio and hired Jesse Root Grant, who in 1821 married Hannah Simpson. In 1822 Ulysses S. Grant was born at the tannery. (E)
